VIDEO: Piquet Jr. does donuts in his Renault F1 car... at Ski Dubai

Click above for the video of Nelson Piquet Jr. putting F1 on ice
Nelson Piquet Jr., Renault's other driver, recently took a Renault R28 F1 car out for a spin in the snows of Ski Dubai. We're not sure if it's the same chassis that Ben Sulayem crashed at another event in Dubai, but if it is the Renault mechanics earned their money. One thing is certain, though: Ben Sulayem is a very good driver, but the fact that he crashed the car on a dry track while Nelsinho keeps it under control doing donuts in the snow shows you just good the average F1 driver is. Man, so much anger in that engine. It's almost frightening to hear those revs.

well its not like those were normal tires, they were studded with somthing like 2000 studs and it took 16 hours to do it by hand.

"Nelsinho keeps it under control doing donuts in the snow shows you just good the average F1 driver is."
I think that's "below-average" for Piquet.
As for repairs.. Autoblog, F1 teams regularly repair chassis that look completely destroyed to us back to race-worthy conditions. Kimi crashed his Ferrari quite hard at Monza 2007 - but just hours later, the car was back in top condition.

I think that for all the hate, a crappy F1 driver is still better than most awesome drivers in pretty much any other category. That said, I still think that Nelsinho is terrible and the only reason he didn't crash (and why he doesn't really crash alot) is because he's too slow to hit the barriers.

I'm not exactly one for arguments but if I recall correctly J.P. Montoya was at worst an average F1 driver and has exactly 1 NASCAR win in 3+ years. I'm not sayin'.......I'm just sayin.

NASCAR is a lot different then F1 in many ways. Car setup is much much more important in NASCAR. A bad setup car cannot do shit and since it is more up to the driver in NASCAR to setup the car it takes more time to get that "oval feel"
In Formula1 as a driver you have to completely bust your ass in testing and give amazing feedback which is then given to the engineers who do all the rest of the work. Or they look at telemetry and make changes for you. The driver is not nearly as in control of the setup in most road racing series.
JPM was a badass F1 driver. He was ballsy and wrecked a lot though out of over aggressiveness. You can tell when he really had the fire under him, I'd say its mostly gone now. Now he is just making a career out of it. He still wants to win but he doesnt have the same drive he once had. Same goes for Kimi Raikkonen I believe.

Indeed, but Nelson is piloting an R28 as well.
Autoblog did the same error in his article, I corrected them. Should do the same..
