VIDEO: Hyundai pays tribute to 45 years of the Mustang

Ford's been building up to April 17, 2009 for several months now. In these dark days for the auto industry, there isn't a lot worth celebrating so it's understandable that the 45th anniversary of the introduction of the Mustang is drawing some attention. Over the past 45 years, numerous contenders have rolled up to the lights for a chance to try and snatch the crown from the original pony-car, but only the Mustang has remained standing throughout. The latest intender to the throne comes from Hyundai in the form of the Genesis Coupe. As with so many species in the animal kingdom, the battle for the alpha position is preceded by an elaborate dance. Check out the Genesis coupe's birthday tribute the current leader after the jump.

This is quite interesting, since it seems like Hyundai sees no problem in taking on BMW and Lexus.

Very classy move by Hyundai.

Talk about amateur hour. This can't be legit.
If it is, it's just embarrassing for Hyundai.

Normally I'd just check off the low quality as a trait of a viral video... But the past few virals i've seen from big manufacturers were not made cheaply in the editing room. This one looks to be made with Windows Movie Maker.

Classy? Interesting?
Folks.... it starts off with Hyundai Spinning (kicking up) dirt on the cake. Then it shows the performance of their own car and ices it off with a "Happy Birthday" message that is done by their own car, which says look at the precision of our burnout!
To me it said FU to the Mustang! Maybe it was just the conveyance!
Note that I was excited to see an homage / tribute from Hyundai when I viewed it! I have zero bad to say about that company!
Now CLASSY is how ford lit up their building to say HAPPY 100 GM last year.

What do you expect from someone who can't even come close to spelling "you're"?

Actually, since Photoshop CS3, you can manipulate video.
Also, that final frame, with the text, IS Photoshopped.

I think he was referring to the verb in a more general sense, ace.

should've took clips of better donuts, didn't look like it had enough power to keep em spinning...

couldn't keep 'em spinning? you do realize it wasn't doing a complete donut to make the whole thing right? plus it was fast cuts which don't show the whole thing being written out in rubber. probably took them a few hours do actually do it this good.

I don't buy it. The distance of the tire marks aren't consistent...the angle of the car and tires changing being taken into account too...nah.

LOL and no patches were laid down that thick. I still like the GenCoupe though.

Yep. Flashing one shot every 1 second is very annoying. Looks like an amateur high school student produced video using Windows Movie Maker.
ale 9:36AM (4/17/2009)
i dont even think Movie Maker could make that... but still though pretty bs, that's not from hyundai, there would be some logos, and rights reserved and all of that stuff...

Name association or genuine?
