Chevrolet Camaro spotted with full-on OEM body kit

The 2010 Camaro looks good in any trim, but the return of the Bow Tie pony car is bound to be a boon for the aftermarket. With all that money on the table, General Motors has no choice but to add its own pricey parts into the mix.
Camaro5 forum member Casey Porter ran into a gussied-up V6 Camaro given a minor cosmetic makeover courtesy of GM Performance Parts. The OEM body kit on the Camaro pictured above (and in the gallery below) includes a matte black front diffuser and bodyside moldings, along with massive chrome and black 15-spoke 21 inch rims wrapped in P Zero rubber. The Camaro in question also features a black matte hood stripe, a hockey stick-shaped stripe at each side, a new fuel door and a pair of awkward-looking chrome-tipped square exhaust tips.
We're not so sure the Camaro kit is actually an improvement over the already hot to trot RS Camaro, but the proliferation of options is definitely a good thing.

Not bad, a sharp-looking kit, although I agree on the exhaust tips... they're either too big or just plain wrong for the car.

Nobody said anything when the exhaust tips were on the Concept.

The car needs to be lowered.
With the 21" rims and lifted look, it seems like it came out from the "Bling-Bling" crowd.

Agreed. Is that the OEM 4x4 kit?

Even worse are 21s (or actually, anything above 18") with dinky little brakes.

The black skirts make the car look too high.

those rims are hideous, that car needs to be lowered, bady

Yep, too damn high. And the wheel design doesn't thrill me to be honest.
Those squared tailpipes might look nice if you couldn't see the real, round tailpipes hiding inside... And yeah, way to big.

James:
Well it does look better Body-Colored, and visually lowers the car. Just a little bit.

That's a preproduction car that's been up on camaro5 I believe.
The kit and wheelsare actually GM dealer accessories but are listed as optional on Chevrolet's website though the cars aren't actually built with the wheels or body kit at the plant.
The body pieces would have to be painted to match the car which isn't a big deal. It really makes the car look sharper, much like the body kit GM released for the LSX GTOs when they were new.
I even like the exhaust cutouts.

I saw this week a yellow SS with the trim kit and the same black decals on the sides and hood. The trim was painted yellow as well.

Speaking of exhausts, I heard/saw a V6 Camaro take off from a stoplight in front of the GM tech center today. It sounded wicked, but a bit too high-pitched than it should (it *is* American muscle, after all).
An aftermarket exhaust would make even the V6 camaro SCREAM. I dunno how well most mufflers (read: your average flowmaster) would work on the camaro, since the OEM ones are shaped weird to sort of fit in with/under the rear fascia.

21 inch wheels? Is it just me, or does that seem way over the top to anyone else?

I think it's just you...

No. I too think it's a bit over the top.

21" aren't bad, maybe a little large for a performance car. Its just this wheels aren't detailed enough, there is a huge difference between a 21" wheel on a concept car (almost sculpture) and a 300M that is in the hood.
These look to after market (black paint on wheels almost always looks aftermarket, good or bad)

Over the top? Why, you must be one of those loonies that doesn't like massive unsprung weight, inferior braking, or effectively taller gearing that makes your car slower! :-)
