The Golden Arches: Gilded McMerc spotted in - you guessed it - Dubai

Redefining the term "enough is enough", the owner of this car is said to have had his SLR gold-chromed. The strangest part is that, according to reports, this is actually the same Mercedes SLR McLaren that was previously spied in Dubai with a silver-chrome treatment. We're not sure about the accuracy of this model considering it has a different rear spoiler, different wheels (which have also been gold-chromed) and darker taillight frame like those on later versions of the Anglo-Saxon supercar, not to mention a different license plate... although the car also reportedly belongs to the owner of a UAE license plate registry, so anything's possible.
The sad reality is that someone, whether it's the same guy or not, looked at a chromed McMerc and thought, Yeah, but what if it were plated in gold? Sure makes the gold-plated Veyron and Phantom DHC sent to the same region seem like the epitome of good taste.

The dumb ass that did this needs to be carrying a gun and fighting his own fricking war in that god forsaken hellhole. To think the US Army saved these jackasses from Sadam Hussein, what a waste of time, lives and money.

Before anyone has a chance to say, wait a minute that was Kiwait, Dubai would have been next. In a world of starving kids when some @sshole decides he want a gold plated car, he needs to have to protect his so-called gold plated @ss. These jerk-offs in Dubai are excess to the extreme, they should experience what it's like to going to bed hungry. Yes I'm on a rant, and more of us should rant when such garbage is thrown in our faces by a bunch of worthless idiots that have known nothing in their lives but being waited on hand and foot.

These(excessiveness) are the same things Osama bin Laden said about the western world before carrying out the 9/11 attacks.....

That was the dumbest thing I've read this week... please next time you have a thought, just keep your mouth shut.
First of all, the UAE is not Iraq nor do they border Iraq. Second, to imply that people form Dubai should be fighting a War in Iraq we made up ourselves is just retarded at best... Saddam was sitting on his ass for the past 15 years until W & Co. decided it was in our interest to do something there.
Finally it's their god damn money and they are selling a product we all need... it's nobody's business to say to that cash should be spent, especially not yours.

@MoonRover: Those were some extremely unintelligent and uninformed comments, please do yourself a favor and read up on the middle east.

@MoonRover: If you really feel that strongly about conspicuous consumption in the Middle East, buy a high-MPG or plug-in vehicle. Actions speak louder than words.

I don't get it... Can't wait for their oil to run out, then its back to the camels.

That's a very short-sighted and ignorant statement. When their oil runs we'll all be screwed because as of right now no one has any workable backup plan to power industry with the use of crude. So, unless you're brilliant enough to think of something then perhaps you better start taking horse or camel riding lessons.

Necessity is the mother of invention. When the oil runs out we'll have a lot of incentive to come up with another way to get around.... and I have no doubt that we will. A part of me wouldn't mind a little gap though, because we need the exercise.
Cheers!

Can you people understand that only 5% of Dubai revenues comes from oil. Most of revenues come from real estate and financial services.

It's like seeing a Hummer H2 at the Mall. Just laugh at it. Stupid people are funny.
