Judging by the number of cars on Chinese roads that look very much like a smart ForTwo, one might be forgiven for thinking that they had been on sale there for years. However, it turns out the diminutive city car has never been officially offered for sale there. There are plenty of local manufacturers building lookalikes at cut-rate prices which could actually pose a problem for Daimler. The ForTwo is being priced in China from $22,000 to an astonishing $29,000! At those sticker prices the Chinese masses are unlikely to leave the local brands with prices as low as $6,500. However, there are undoubtedly some who will go for the real thing, even at a premium price.
