Episode VI reveals what lies beneath Bertone's Project M

Click above to jump to episode six of the Project M web video series
After the first and subsequent four webisodes of Stile Bertone's Project M hit cyberspace, everyone's wanted to know just what the upcoming supercar would be based on. Talented young designer Jason Castriota has designed Ferraris, Maseratis, Rolls-Royces and more, but since leaving Pininfarina to head the reborn Stile Bertone, would his projects employ the same exotic underpinnings? Initial speculation was that the trickle-teased Project M was based on the Nissan GT-R, but those and other rumors can now be finally put to rest with the release of the sixth episode of the Brad Farrell/KineticFic-produced web series.
We won't spoil the surprise for you, except to say that it's genuine Detroit steel which Castriota's playing with here. Follow the jump to view the video and find out for yourself.

Wouldnt it be genuine Detroit aluminum in this case?

so they are going to kill most likely the fastest corvettes that will ever be made and re-body them. im lost! i would rather have a ZR1 stock

Yeah -- it's not aluminium it's mostly carbon fiber -- post from CorvetteForum:
"Note that it has already been reported that the car will be at least 250 lbs lighter, will be all carbon fiber, and will have measurably better aero and downforce then original ZR1.
Some additional details from an earlier carbon fiber gear article:

If it's that much lighter it should be faster, no?

This just in; a car company has successfully mated a dragonfly with a corvette!

Though obviously different that picture reminds me of the EcoJet. I am very excited about this car.

That's a lot of face-time. maybe some black pieces or chrome would work. All Body Color looks like a Praying Mantis or somethin.

great marketing to generate hype over essentially a re bodied ZR1

yes and the P 4/5 is a rebodied Enzo, it's what he does. I'm not sure what you were expecting from a designer that rebodies cars?

First thing to come to mind was the GEICO gekko.

Was the car designed using Origami?

OK, is it just me, or did you feel totally jazzed that someone was doing something this cool on an american car. I mean, I know it's corny, but I admit to feeling a real pang of detroit pride. I thought the videos were cool before (and there are enough hot chicks that dig cars that Jason has GOT to be getting laid something fierce just for the P4/5) but now I really honestly genuinely sincerely want to know what this ... Car Artist ... is gonna do with the ZR1.
Am I the only one who feels that way?

nope, totally awesome, especially how he gloats about the engineering :).

me too :-)
especially a vette

first of all that tool Castriota never designed a Rolls-Royce...he bastardized a Drophead Coupe while at Pininfarina - it was hideous! The most over-rated, self-loving 'designer' out there...

Dude, your comment about the Rolls is idiotic. He designed that for Roland Hall who wanted something specific. OK, so you don't like the car -- fine. But are you really telling me that Castriota is not among the very very best anywhere? I'm not talking about some kid who draws in his back room -- I'm talking about one of the guys that made helped make the P4/5 faster than Ferrari made the enzo. I'm talking about a guy who used carbon fiber and wood to make the Rolls. The Birdcage -- which NO ONE can tell me isn't going to be regarded as one of the most important designs of the last ten years.
Name me one other designer who has designed for Ferrari and Maserati, Rolls and Chevy, Pininfarina and Bertone?
I'll wait.
You guys are spoiling a good party -- I'll bet you yell at your TV during Survivor reruns too.

If anyone at bertone reading this ignore the a**wipes who post negative. Me and 11 other guys work at 2 corvette dealerships and we are really excited that corvette was the car you chose. maybe people dont know this but the ZR1 is probably best engineered production chassis ever produced in america. If GM wasn't in the sh*tter we would have seen more of the car this year. But corvettes need new design and there is no one better to do it than Jason. It will make corvette a world class car. Anyway, take a look at "jerry" posts -- he only posts negative. some guys are just like that. I personally know dozens of people who needed a little american car hope.
In you next video -- say more stuff about corvette engineering. I know I am biased, but we could use the plug.
God bless
