Ben Sulayem (or Mohammed bin Sulayem), the UAE championship rally driver hailing from Dubai, was involved in a high-speed crash earlier today at the Dubai Autodrome. Sulayem was racing a Ford GT in the Renault R28 F1 car ahead of the Renault F1 Roadshow this weekend and lost control, shunting the multi-million dollar racer into a wall. According to reports from the ground, the Renault was spinning its tires down the straight when it finally regained traction, causing an uneven transfer of grip and pulling the car to the right – narrowly avoiding the Ford – before it crashed into the pit wall. Sulayem walked away from the crash uninjured and the Renault is currently undergoing repairs. Hit the jump to watch a video of the crash (beware, NSFW language).

Come on Matt, you can do better than that. Say something stupid about the Ford.

It would of never happened if the Stig was driving!

Apparently his rally car doesn't grip like an F1 car eh? I guess not all motorsports are interchangeable.
"...the Renault was spinning its tires down the straight when it finally regained traction, causing an uneven transfer of grip..." Translation: he pushed the accelerator straight to the floor and had no idea what he was doing, not hard to predict. What a monumental dumbass! Anyone notice how he seems to keep flooring it even after the collision? Of course it could have been stuck wide open for a second because of the impact... But I'm just going to stick with the monumental dumbass theory.

Well a 750hp.
and how cold were the tires?
MikeW 2:43PM (4/09/2009)
cut off:
less than 1500lbs, with more than 750hp is a recipe for fun or disaster.

Probably broke a half-shaft (the right one) which caused the car to head that way. F1 cars aren't dragsters.
OMFGSRSLYWTF 8:19PM (4/09/2009)
Really now? Because F1 cars don't come under 1005 throttle load ever...especially not off the line.

Hah.
Yeah, they win again. The only way they ever win - if the other car takes itself out.

HAHAHAHA!! What a dumbass.
I nominate for consideration for the '09 Hoon Award.

why was this clown driving the new R29??
they shoulda put him in a older R27 w/ traction control...apparently he could have used it

He's not in an R29 - he's in last year's R28. Note that, despite the new livery, it still has the old wings. Renault themselves said it'll be an R28.
