I'll be stopping in on Sunday.
We usually do the public preview Friday thing, but plans are different this year and we have to put it off a bit. Still can't wait!

How come there is a car show in New York? Don't they all take a taxi or subways to work? And isn't the city "against cars"?

What would be really ironic is a car show in California.
Luis 10:53AM (4/07/2009)
Um, because NYC is the center of the world. Don't you know that?
They take subways in Tokyo too. Frankfurt.
Don't forget, New Jersey is car-centric.

No worries Luis. I was being cheeky too.

Be sure to try out Blue Ribbon sushi on 119 Sullivan Street, if you are into sushi. Awesome place. Go early, as the place is really small and filled to the max almost everytime. Try not to sit in the back, it's way too loud.

i'll be at the show next week, but as an old newspaper/magazine/book designer, may i give you some helpful criticism about your graphic image used for this story? a blood-red New York Skyline with a 747 silhouetted between the buildings isn't the best image for a New York story. damn tasteless, actually.

Right, because airlines no longer pass over the skyline at all times of the day on final approach. And that's no 747, either.

Are you alluding to 9\11?
Luis 10:54AM (4/07/2009)
Yes, it's an MD-80. And I have no problem with the image - planes routinely fly over mid-town, although it's still a tad eerie.
I3ziko 11:08AM (4/07/2009)
I think you are overreacting a little bit.. if that is "blood red" than pigs fly... i see nothing wrong with the image, keep it.

Your criticism was neither helpful, constructive, or informed. As an "old newspaper/magazine/book designer" maybe you should consider not projecting your fear and loathing on others. There is nothing in the graphic or the body of the story to connect the picture to 9/11. Planes will continue to fly near NYC. Get over it!!!!.
The graphic is appropriate for the story and having just returned from NYC last weekend, I can tell you that the city will never forget 9/11 BUT one can say with 100% confidence that NYC is still an incredibly relevant hub for culture and society.
Thank you Autoblog team for doing what you do and overlooking tasteless and ill informed individuals.

Artandcolour has a fair point. I doubt he's the only person made uncomfortable by the pic...
k.w.a 5:31PM (4/07/2009)
i agree with art and colour...
my eyes widened a little when i saw that pic... i mean of course, alluding to 9/11 wasn't even remotely close to the intention of the picture, but im sure there could've been a more appropriate picture out there to use
