Click above to see Ken Block's WRX on tracks

The Rebel Alliance vehicle seen in above was apparently spotted at Guardsman Pass in Utah: a Subaru Impreza WRX rolling on a mighty set of treads wearing Ken Block's number and sponsorship paintjob. We have no idea how, why, or where he acquired such a vehicle, but we do know this much: Ken Block gets to have a lot more fun than the rest of us. Follow the jump to watch the vid.

I was surprised at the speed that has on the road! If you ever ridden in anything with tracks (minus snow mobiles), you know its not a fun or fast experience, but that looks like you could have some fun with it.

+1 - Beat me to it. Been around for awhile and given the way Ken likes to use his car to play, seems a natural evolution.

This is a whole new level of rice.

Your comment is a whole new level of fail.

At least I'm not putting ridiculous treads on a Japanese station wagon or riding Ken Block's nuts.
Anything Ken Block does is definitely not "Rice." Every mod he makes has a purpose. "Ricey mods" are pointless and gaudy.

Ken Block has more skill in his whiskers than most people dream of having. He has always been about extreme driving skill and doing things most only dream about. Please reference his jumps at the DC Snow sports park or his Gymkhanna(sp?) video.

So Stillen who mod Japanese and Korean also rice? so what should we call you people who modified domestic car? fries? potato? do you want to be called potato? come on guys grow up. its not high school anymore where you call people you envy or bully names.

Those are pretty crazy tracks, never seen them on a car, just trucks. But, a rally car with them has to be fun in the snow.

Ken was beaten to the punch by more than one Subaru owner who decided that, yes, things would be better with tracks, but you can't fault the guy's taste for all things wild and zany.
Here's a video of the older Subaru with Mattracks in action

Subaru and DC shoes ALWAYS have some fun stuff when it comes to rallying. I can't wait to see the vid of this thing doing some cool stuff on the web.

Those tracks have been around as conversion kits for a while. Didn't the originate in the land of the rising sun? I know Stacy on Trucks! built a rig with them.

But on a Scooby rally car.... I want more vidz

It looks like a set of MatTracks with custom paint. It's a cool project, but those have been available for years for trucks. A few years ago I took my Jeep XJ up Guardsman Pass about two days before they closed it for the season; champagne powder up past the front bumper, fun times.

I've always thought it would be fun to buy a set of MatTracks for a vehicle, with some of the snowfall in Utah there are days we could use it.

I want tracks for my Subie for no other reason than to just have them.

Those tracks have been available for years.... Still a cool project!

You are totally right!! I saw two years ago a VW Touareg in the VW museum in Wolfsburg, Germany with the same devices instead of wheels.

Tracks on a turbo AWD Subaru... oh that has to be cool as hell.

The only thing cooler than that is the Ripsaw.
I wonder what a subaru AWD-powered custom off-road buggy with 4WS and long-throw independent suspension, and MatTracks would be like...

haha looks pretty cool on the subie!
