The official details on the BMW X6M and X5M aren't due to be released until tomorrow, but Carscoop decided to drop the first batch of photos of the new uber-utes from BMW a day early. Early reports indicate both M-modified sleds will be powered by a tweaked variant of the twin-turbocharged V8 currently fitted to the X6, with output increasing from 400 hp to 550 hp. The suspension, brakes and transmission will all be modified for duty in the Ms, but that's all we have for now. Check back tomorrow for the official details.

i completely agree. i don't know why people buy these cars. they're fugly, expensive, and can't be used as a SUV at all. with the economy in the recession, i don't know how many of these vehicle they'll sell.

It's official: "M" is just a BMW package. "M"s are nothing special anymore. Anything can be an "M".
They've just debased the names of two of the world's greatest cars, the M3 and the M5. Now officially meaningless.

this car is disgusting

@AMcA
Yeah, BMW Motorsport has pretty much diluted themselves to the point where they're no different than AMG. What a shame. :(

Me too.
I find this car (and the idiots that drive them) fascinating... One of life's unexplainable mysteries...

The poseurs are gonna love it. Now they don't have to pay some after-market body kit company to make it look that silly anymore. It's now OEM installed.

Why would you want a sportier sports car when you can have a sportier frankenstien. I mean wouldn't that be redundant.
I hope this isn't how BMW thinks. Actually I don't even care anymore, Audi is looking better and better every time they come out with something.

Regular version is horrible, this version is just as bad or worse.

+1 when BMW should be focusing their attention to making minimalist creations (ala 2002) they create this bloated hideous abortion.

It's better than I expected. Red is a bad choice, I'm sure black or white looks better. I look forward to seeing the X5 M.

Love the way the car looks in black or white. In white, it looks like an Imperial Stormtrooper's helmet, and in black, real presence that stuns onlookers.

I just can't even pretend to care about this car/truck/suv/whatever. I am sure like any BMW, it is tremendously fast and capable and I am sure that those who do own them, love them, but I simply cannot get behind BMW's styling anymore.
I fully understand that BMW, like any car manufacturer is in the business of making money and as such is trying to hit every demographic nitch market possible. Their concern isn't making a handful of die-hard pre-Bangle Ultimate Driving Machine fanatics happy. Their concern is competing with MB, Audi, and more and more Porsche/VaG.
But this thing... no matter how hard I try, I just cannot for the life of me understand how this made it past any initial marketing test groups, if it was ever shown to any at all prior to being green lighted.

So it's going to hit sixty in the low fours right? as it stands the base x6 has less room in most directions, is less fuel efficient, and slower than a crap R32, if this thing can't school an RS3 than what's the point of a jacked up hatchback (which, when you've got < interior space than one, or a 3 series, is exactly what this Real-Housewives-of-OC-mobile is).

You answered your own question there, buddy :)

I think we're missing the leaked memo indicating without any designers, well or employees... or profit for that matter... Bimmer's outsourcing design work to the ricer community. This was meant to coincide with the release film which inspired it.
