Car and Driver proves today that it too has a sense of humor with a mock article about President Obama ordering Chevy and Dodge out of NASCAR. According to C&D, neither GM nor Chrysler will get anymore bailout money unless the two brands exit the popular motorsport immediately. Hyundai is even reportedly interested in taking one of the open spots left by the vacating American brands. Though it's all a joke, this scenario could actually happen!

yeah, why are car companies in the deep red still doing NASCAR? thats like going jet skiing on the weekends but you have no food in your house.

Mainly because it actually can pull money in. Consider how much money these companies make off a single race and then figure out how much they spend and they are more than likely coming out strongly ahead.

Please? It's a waste of money if you ask me, and they shouldn't be sponsoring it, nor participating in it, if it means firing people with proper jobs...

Of course I do, but to me, NASCAR isn't racing, but we won't get into why that is.

On average, the people working on that team are paid much more that the regular floor workers that are getting laid off. I wouldn't say lay them off, just drop their funding, significantly, until the companies recover, if they ever recover...
