There are a number of hurdles to overcome before electric vehicles are truly ready to take the everyday driving mantle away from today's gasoline or diesel-burning vehicles, not the least of which is finding a proper location to recharge the car's batteries. There are a number of initiatives seeking to solve that problem, with Project Better Place probably standing out as the most widely known.

Firms like Elektromotive and EVoasis are also working on launching new charging points as we speak, and these two companies have plans to double the number of places to plug in your electric car in and around London before the end of the year.

There will still be hurdles to overcome, though, as different EVs use different chargers. Further, not all battery packs are created equally, meaning that they can't all take the same amperage or store as much power. Regardless, with nearly 5,000 EVs already on the road in the UK, adding additional charging points strikes us as an excellent proposition.
