It's official: after General Motors gave up its place in the batter's box, Audi has become "The official luxury vehicle of the New York Yankees." For you regular Yankee fans, not much will change, except seeing the Audi logo when you look up at the H&R Block Suite Level and happen upon Audi cars in the Babe Ruth Plaza on occasional display dates. For you Yankees fans who like to spend a lot of money when you see a baseball game, you'll now be visiting the Audi Yankees Club, where Audi logos will adorn the doors, napkins, brochures and televisions. The partnership will last for three years until the end of the 2011 season.

As a (self-loathing) Yankees fan, I can see the link between the two ... talented but liked mostly by douchey people

The question is: How much is Audi paying for this?
As a yankees fan (not a hardcore fan, i like them and root for them, but it's not my life), i am very disappointed to see anything but a domestics name associated with them.
Maybe next the Dallas cowboys could get hyundai as a sponsor for their new stadium.

For the record, i don't love or hate audi, i think they made decent cars, just not my cup of tea.

hmmm...this can't be a bad thing. I'll have to look at the game roster and check for "free Audi R8 day". If there is such a game, I'll be goin!

I just find it intriguing that a German automaker has become an automotive symbol of an American icon. So much for the US car industry. What's next? Tata, official sponsor of Nascar?

Oh my God! I have to get a Audi because it's the offical car of "Jeetah!"

People that buy Audi's buy them regardless of the "official car of x'" crap. They buy them because they look great (the best in my opinion) and are not as pretentious as a Benz or BMW.

So does this mean Audi is going to buy out the Nissan GT-R, Corvette Z06, BMW M3, and Porsche 911 to make their roster the strongest?
Hah! I rather enjoyed that comment.

      Yankees and Audi?

Does that seem like an oxymoron to anybody else?
I wasn't talking about the Yankees organization. I hate them. I was referring to the name Yankee itself.

I guess the Astros will get Kia, or Isuzu, or similar.

What does official car mean anyway? Do any of the Yankees have to buy and drive Audis now?
Glad they chose an American car company. Good job Yanks.
So much hate! Is this really a stretch? Seeing as how it costs an arm and a leg to go to a Yanks game, and a huge chunk of Audi sales occur in the NY/NE area, this is probably a smart move.

And this is coming from someone who HATES sponsor named ballparks. (Yes, I know it's not Audi Stadium, just the club)

Audi is just trying to tell America what Top Gear has been saying for a year now. The cars are driven exclusively by c**ks
        • 5 Years Ago
        Thats BMW.

as an audi driver, I am a little sad.

I guess you can't blame them for taking an opportunity
        to reach a huge market.

do you think it really works against them?
