Riverside International Auto Museum hosts weekend of racers and movies
Next weekend, the Riverside International Auto Museum will host the Legends of Riverside film festival, gala and general car show-off. In addition to a tribute to Paul Newman and screenings of Winning, Le Mans, and The Making of Le Mans, folks like Dan Gurney, Bob Bondurant, Peter Brock, Brock Yates, and Pete Lyons will be there chatting up all those four-wheeled-things that go fast. If you're a movie and racing fan who's also into Maseratis, the museum has more than 30 of them on display, including an MC12 and that sweetness from sister brand Alfa Romeo called the 8C Competizione. Oh, and it's all for charity, which might be one more reason to swing by if you're in the neighborhood...[Source: RIAM]

Has anyone ever sat through the movie Le Mans? It's like your watching your eyelids slowly adhere to your eyes, from the inside. It along with any number of (the vastly overrated) Steve McQueen movies is TRULY boring.
I hope they play some really cool car movies. My personal faves:
It's A Mad Mad Mad Mad Mad World
Arriverderci Baby
Any movie where Elvis plays a race car driver
The Gumball Rally
Faster Pussycat Kill Kill
Cannonball
Any James Bond Film
Smokey and The Bandit
Any Transporter movie
Christine
The Thomas Crown Affair
Talledega Knights ( A movie I had to be in the hospital to watch, but, turned out to be one of my fave movies ever!)
What other ones did I miss?

P.s. I know "The Thomas Crown Affair" is a Steve McQueen flick, it's the only one I can sit through. And I forgot Matt Helm and In Like Flint.

After reading your idea of a good car movie, I'm not suprised you didn't like Le Mans. Didn't you forget to add Talladega Nights, the Fast and the Furious series and Transformers in there?

Fast and The Furious , meh
I did add Talledega Nights!
Well, come on Blaine, what are yours?

Hey I was born here when we were still the 909.

and I lived for 11 years in the 909 proper (redlands/highland)
being the high class of the 909 is like winning the Special Olympics
(hey if its works for Obama....)

909...951...I was born here before area codes (and zip codes) and phone numbers had just six digits.
P.S. McQueen's Le Mans is absolutley the finest motorsports film ever made.
If you want melodrama, look elsewhere.
