Unlikely Hauler: Porsche to offer optional electrically folding trailer hitch on Panamera?
As if Porsche's Panamera isn't already strange enough, the European options list will apparently include some items you'd never imagine on a car from Zuffenhausen. When you think about it, though, a trailer hitch isn't the most far-fetched thing you might want on your Panamera. After all, the S version is going to have plenty of grunt to drag that Tabbert Paganini all over The Continent, and other high-end sedans are fitted with hitches, so why not the Panamera? After all, it's not like you're trying to turn a 911 into a Peterbilt, but then again, isn't this what the well-heeled buy Cayennes for? Thanks for the tip, Michael!

way, waaaaaay too much like a wing-wang for me. you'll already look like kind of a nozzle driving around in a Panamera, no reason to remind everybody of it by having this thing poking out behind your car.

Unlikely? In North America? yes. In Germany or Europe? nope, not even close. Were they offering it in North America it'd be Unlikely. Characterizing it as such for Europe only betrays a lack of understanding for the European car buying public or hell any travels to Europe in general. Anyone who's been on a highway in any of the countries has seen Opel diesel wagons with 90hp hauling along caravans. I get AB is an American, and explicitly Detroit, focused blog, but as our only decent online automotive news outlet (from NA) at least spend some time reading a European blog or car rag once in a while.

I think you may not understand the title. It is unlikely because it is an $80k 4 door sports car. Yes, people in Europe love their Opel diesel putting along with a caravan, but I think AB is insinuating that the average Porsche buyer isn't taking this car out for the weekend.

Trailer hitches on cars used to be a status symbol in the U.S. until pick up trucks became luxurious enough that they could be used as cars. I know the practice of using passenger cars in Europe is still a common practice, but electrically folding and looks like a certain part of the male body? This is pretty funny.
