VIDEO: Saab Performance Team practicing with new models

Click above to watch the video of the Saab Performance Team
This latest video of the Saab Performance Team is just as depressing as it is cool (additional helpings here and here). The cool part is obvious: when's the last time you saw a guy put a yellow convertible on two wheels across a frozen lake and drive it with one hand on the wheel? Depressing because it reminds you of how cool Saab is, which leads to remembering that Saab is bankrupt. Still, it's well worth the watch, and you even get footage of the coming 9-3X, and proof that the company should be saved, if only for the Performance Team. Follow the jump to check it out.

Cool video, I still say Hyundai should buy Saab and made this their luxury division.

But SAAB is irrelevant, i read so many positive things about Hyundai, Sonata is great the Genesis (both of them) are amazing, Kia Forte is cool. Hyundai has everything in the world happening for it. SAAB is a unit of Government Motors that is in bankruptcy.

That's an interesting thought. It might work. However, Hyundai seems intent on making itself the luxury brand and KIA the sporty brand, so I'm not sure how SAAB would fit in there.

Making Saab their luxuary brand would be a really stupid move. Saab isn't a luxury brand, luxury prices for a non luxyury car is the reason Saab hasn't shown profit in the last ten years. A new owner should take Saab back to what it was 20 years ago, quirky afordable cars. A new owner should expand the model program and lower the prices to compete with VW, Opel, the french and japanease. Same could be said about Volvo, no one pays that much when they can get a real luxuary car for the same money. Except here in Sweden where people buy V70s in droves.

Well first of all the video is lame.
Also, SAAB is as dead as they come, those sedans are old and look a lot like Corolla, and that SUV is nothing more, nothing less than a Chevy Trail Blazer that claims that its daddy used to be a Jet Fighter.
Now if you really want to see hardcore auto action see this video (until the end)

Nah. This beats the BMW drifting any day. That said, no one could even DREAM of touching that Iraqi bike drifter!

Well, the 9-3x definitely has one thing the Corolla doesn't: character.
Pokey 9:02PM (3/01/2009)
Yeah, some jackass in a BMW using public roads as his own personal playground, and putting others lives in danger, so cool!
I have seen alot better videos than this, but I doubt you could do better.

those "old" sedans look like they could run circles around a corolla.

I don't understand contradictory statements.

I think the "Born from Jets" ad campaign killed Saab, nothing else. OK it wasn't that ad campaign, but c'mon it was pretty bad.
I want that drivers job. Even if the job may be gone in six months it would be worth having for a short bit.
I wouldn't say Saab is irrelevant, they just haven't redefined what they are like every other car company has done year to year. Name one exciting product in the last five or so years? They have done the Bio-fuel push but w/o good advertising. You make your own peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, so eat 'em Saab. Eat 'em good.

Saab wants to be BMW when it grows up. Volvo sorta chases Audi. BMW should buy Saab, its meant to be.

Either you whippersnappers are too young or you just plain forgot, but back in the day if you wanted to be a certified "Yuppie" you had to drive either a BMW or a Saab.

It is true Saab cars are way overpriced and the depreciation is horrible for all their cars. They should try to bring their prices down to meet the Subaru clientele. For Volvo I can say that they have more value and potential to be a truly luxury brand and Hyundai could use Volvo to enter the luxury car market instead of Saab.

Okay, anyone with advanced driving skills can make a car look cool. You could spin out on ice to cool music in a Chrysler Sebring and it will make a cool video, but it doesn't mean the car is worth buying.
Poor Saab. Could have been great.
