While Nissan revealed preliminary pricing on its new Cube compact earlier this month at the Chicago Auto Show, it has now released more figures for the entire lineup, and it is launching a pre-order website today, too.
As noted earlier, the Cube will start at $13,990 for a base 1.8-liter model with a six-speed manual transmission. The midline 1.8 S model will command $14,690 in manual and $15,690 in Xtronic CVT configuration, while the uplevel SL (available only with the Xtronic) will command $16,790. The top-shelf Krom, also an automatic-only proposition, is pegged at $19,370. All of the aforementioned prices do not include destination charges, so be sure to tack on an additional $695 in your calculations. For comparison's sake, Scion's larger xB will set you back a minimum of $16,420 (including destination), versus $14,685 in-your-garage for a Base Cube S.
For more information including details on standard equipment, please check out the official press release after the jump. If you're interested in speccing out or reserving a Cube with such eccentricities as 20-color interior illumination or dashboard shag, click here. Initial Cube shipments are expected to hit dealers in early May.

Why do they insist that up-level trims HAVE to have an automatic? Is their manual really *that* bad as to be a budget item?

No one buys manuals any more, its 2009
Farmboy 5:07PM (2/24/2009)
That's like saying nobody buys CD players (in car).
P.V. 6:39PM (2/24/2009)
I don't think it's that so much as the fact that Nissan's manuals are pretty darn bad by all accounts; their CVTs (Nissan) and automatics (Infiniti) are far superior to their manuals.
Luis 10:28AM (2/25/2009)
Regardless, I wouldn't touch it without a manual.

My gosh, it looks like it's been hit very hard by an ugly stick! Are they serious about trying to sell this thing?

What a ridiculously hideous and cheap-looking interior.

... and Exterior.
I tried really hard to understand this design. I just can't.
Why does it have to be so ugly and sad looking?
Berto 4:38PM (2/24/2009)
Ummm... ok.
The sad thing is that because I am currently living in Berkeley, I'll probably end up seeing one of these on the road before a new Camaro. Damn.

One of the many reasons I left Berkeley...
Berto 5:16PM (2/24/2009)
haha lucky you.
Half a semester to go and I am done, therefore able to finally leave this place.
Visnick 5:55PM (2/24/2009)
Now that I live in Boston the only things in Berkeley that I miss are the weather and Triple Rock brewery. Berkeley tends to be a nut magnet.
Berto 6:19PM (2/24/2009)
Like that Ford commercial, Berkeley: "It's certifiably insane."
Triple rock is great, so is Pyramid Brewery.
I'll be going back to San Diego where I will definitely be seeing lots of great cars during my daily outings.
ugg.tryptophan 9:43PM (2/24/2009)
aw thats sad (because i want a cube)come over to sf!! youll see a lot of great cars; ive seen a couple challengers, new mustangs, and an f430
Berto 9:57PM (2/24/2009)
@ugg.tryptophan:
Haha if you like the cube, get it. Nothing wrong with that, I personally am not a fan though.
I tend to go to SF on the weekends for dinner or night out with friends and usually see some really good stuff out there too. Actually, every time I go to SF during a clear night I see quite a few kickass cars.
Luis 9:17AM (2/25/2009)
Hey I lived in Berkeley and am now in Boston. Roads here suck! :)
I'm sure we'll see Cubes before Camaros here too.

It looks like the face of the air conditioner from the Brave Little Toaster.
I'd be worried about sneaking by it's mouth to get to the driver door...

It's it a little too generous of a price for such a small and "value" looking vehicle?
