Comic Relief to auction ridealong with Stig

We still don't know who the White Stig is, and he could be replaced by the Black Stig, the Purple Stig, or the Rainbow Stig pretty soon. But before he goes, you can win a ride with him around the Top Gear test track. Red Nose Day is a fundraising event put on by the British charity Comic Relief, and it's practically a holiday in UK. One of the items being auctioned for this year's drive is a lap with the Stig, to take place some time on a Wednesday this Summer.
If you win, you'll need to make your own way to Surrey, where the Top Gear track is. There is no word on the car you'll be riding in, and since Top Gear filming is a little loosey-goosey, things might get postponed. But still, as of writing the bidding is only up to £3,600.00 (about $5,100 USD), which is a paltry sum for the chance to ride with the automotive equivalent of The Shadow. Bring a red nose...

Just in case the winner is reading this; rip off his helmet to uncover Wolfgang Bernhard, erm I mean the "Stig"....

Price is pretty steep. I'd do it, if it was in a mitsu down a snowy mountain road against a bob-sled. Remember that Top Gear race? That was a real fun one to watch.

I think we know who Rainbow Stig would be!
The vs. bobsled driver was Henning Solberg, who at the time was not Stig, though he might have played him on T.V.

Isn't it great? British show and three German cars in the background?

Modern Britain is a cosmopolitan country and the motor industry is globally incestuous. Indeed, both VAG and BMW have interest in the British motor industry. We're not obsessed with the whole "domestic v import" futility here.

there is no british car industry left, the biggest independent british car manufactor builds the London taxis. Should they show the Stig with a taxi? ;-)

$5,000K for one lap...that is nothing. And remember...the British love German cars....think who wrote Chitty-Chitty-Bang-Bang and who supplied the engines to those old race cars via downed German Zeppelins. (Maybach is the answer to second part)

Ah, the typical ignorant American comment.
The British car industry produces some 1.6 million cars and 0.25 million commercial vehicles every year, of which between 60% and 70% is exported. It employs some 850,000 people. Many of the British companies in our automotive industry have foreign parent companies, however a the domicile of a subsidiary company is not based on that of its parent (if you're familiar at all with company law, which I doubt.)

That price will quadruple, a similar auction for Children in Need raised thousands more.
