Illinois to offer temporary Barack Obama license plates
The cult of personality (and associated merchandising onslaught) surrounding the 44th President of the United States now extends to Illinois residents' automobiles. For a mere $50, Illinois motorists can acquire special-edition temporary license plates that further shows their ardor for President Barack Obama (beyond the usual assortment of Hope/Change/Etc. bumper stickers). Proceeds from the sale of the license plates (which you can buy at the Chicago Auto Show next week) benefit the Illinois Library Association.
The tags are valid between February 17 and April 17, 2009, at which point they will undoubtedly appear, en masse, on eBay. Hat tip to Michael D. for the heads-up.

Hey, why not. If people are dumb enough to buy his photo...let them do it. Come on, people do pay extra for vanity plates. Why is it OK to pay extra for plates that say "BOOTY" or "PIMP" or "ATOBLGR" and not "HSEIN" or "OBMA"

They seem to have forgotten the idiots shouting "4 more years" 4 years ago, as well as those who would call up news stations supporting EVERYTHING Bush was doing before 2004.
Here we have an economic meltdown caused by Bush and the Republicans in Congress for since the last years of Bill Clinton and you are really suprised that people are willing to latch onto anyone they percieve to be a repudiation of Bush politics?

Flashpoint, the mere fact that you are completely oblivious of who exactly has been in Congress the past few years and the true reasons for the economic meltdown (hint: it has NOTHING to do with lack of government intervention - quite the contrary), you would quickly see that we are certainly not the "idiots."

Did you know that McCain, wasn't born in USA. He was born on an Air base in Panama, which legally is considered part of USA. All American military bases are considered part of USA.

McLovin: just curious, but you realize Bush was handed a cratered economy as well (the tech bubble of 2000!) and then had 9/11 then had 2 wars plus tax cuts (gasp!) and still managed to keep things rolling and growing fine until, what, 8 months ago?
Had Congress been doing the oversight they are responsible for - Barney Frank and Chris Dodd specifically* - the crater we're in would have never happened.
(yes, Bernanke and Cox didn't do much better, but it's Congress that forced minting of the counterfeit paper [worthless loans] that Wall St. was trading in - it's hard to fault them when the commodities have "Backed By Uncle Sam!" stamped on them)
