VIDEO: Rhys Millen getting to know new ride - Red Bull Genesis Coupe

Click above to watch video after the jump
Maybe Hyundai has been lying to us the whole time. Maybe the Genesis Coupe is really front-wheel drive. It certainly doesn't look like a rear-wheel-drive muscle coupe. Well, the video after the jump showing Rhys Millen having some fun with his new Red Bull Genesis Coupe drift car proves beyond measure that Hyundai's two-door is definitely driving the right wheels. Those billowing clouds of smoke definitely trace their origins to a pair of contact patches made by the rear wheels and the road. Millen will soon be piloting the 550-hp Red Bull Genesis Coupe in the Formula Drift Professional Drifting Championship, Pikes Peak International Hill Climb and Redline Time Attack Road Racing series. For now, however, he's just getting to know his new ride with a few opposite lock examples of extreme oversteer. Follow the jump to see exactly what the Genesis Coupe can do when given to maniacs.

Damn... that's V6 sounds really good. Looks like it needs more tire though.

I've never understood why people put overbearing music over car videos. All I want to hear is the exhaust, the tires and the turbo. Save the techno garbage for a hot import nights video.

Stop trying to "sound" like a car guy. I'm sure you'll live.

Completely agree with you. However, I also like the video rendition of F1 races at formula1.com where they fade the music in and out to emphasize the F1 V8 notes.

Looks like I lucked out by having no sound and I god to focus on the good part of the video: the short drift clips.
On a related note, I saw the Genesis at the DC Auto Show. They had one in a flat-camouflage with a giant wing. It was ugly as sin and I wish that they had a normal one on display.

I do believe that is Willow Springs... Fun track with 2 or 4 wheels.

I would love to get into that 2.0T, but somehow I can't wait to start hearing how Genesis owners are going to be putting their cars in trees, ditches, and guardrails because they don't know how to drive...and everyone wants to be a drifter these days.

Those were my thoughts exactly when I first heard about this car. If it really does start at around $22k, then we're in for a lot of crashes from first time drivers.

I wish this car would hit the streets in America already. I need to see one in person...
