Chicago 2009: Volkswagen CC Gold Coast concept

It made its debut over the summer at Pebble Beach. It showed up again in November at SEMA. And finally, we have a set of our own live shots of the CC Gold Coast concept because Volkswagen sent the swanky 4-door to Chi-town.
The Gold Coast is doused in a rich-looking brown finish dubbed "Pepe Pepper" by DuPont, and it adopts a squat, muscular stance riding on a set of KW coilovers. 19-inch wheels fill out the wells nicely, and a full ground effects kit brings the look even closer to the ground. Veedub's 280-horsepower 3.6 FSI V6 sits underhood, mated to a six-speed DSG. Stopping power on this looker is further enhanced with a set of the Audi R8's ceramic discs in front.
While the CC Gold Coast is technically a concept, VW's making sure it gets in front of as many eyes as possible. Hence, we wouldn't be surprised to see the "concept" moniker eventually turn into "special edition" – minus those supercar stoppers.

That's damn good looking. I saw a CC sport at a VW dealer for $299 per month lease. I am going to be very tempted when my lease is up in '11.

From the first picture I feel like this car could look really good in some kind of sport back setup or like a really long and sleek wagon

Gorgeous, can't wait to see it on Sunday...I too have been quite impressed with VAG's recent designs, although I just bout a mk5 GTI in July, I like the mk5 better than the new mk6...
The mouth on this CC almost looks Lamborghini "esque"

Beautiful. It's rare to see a vehicle today where the design is cohesive throughout.

What do they mean by the name "Gold Coast" exactly?
Its a neighborhood of Chicago (near north, around John Hancock Center) as well as a casino in Vegas... but its also a reference to the O.C, Long Island, and Florida - as well as Australia.
Who exactly are they referencing?

Perhaps it changes its loyalties depending upon where it is displayed.
Cars, like some women, are fickle b*tches.

Exquisite.
Question: Will they build an R36 and bring it here?

that rear end will start a "VWs look like Hyundais last gen cars"
the genesis is better, considering a loaded CC will ring up to $40+k

Even if I prefer more the VW range I think the genesis is a very good looking vehicle especially in the coupe version. Anyway I think the passat cc is way more good looking. And even if the genesis (which competes more with the regular passat) is cheaper I consider the CC a non expensive vehicle for what you especially with the USA prices.

WOW I may trade the e46 for this.

Always been lukewarm to Volkswagon, but this is a beautiful design. I am hard pressed to find anything I don't like.

An absolute stunner! Now, it all boils down to performance. My wish is for a version with 4motion and six-speed manual transmission.
