GM bringing Bumblebee 2 and Autobots to Chicago Auto Show

We usually know what vehicles an automaker will debut at a major auto show the weekend before, but General Motors has kept us in the dark about its plans for the Chicago Auto Show next week. As such, we're not expecting any major product reveals, but today we learned that GM will be introducing us to the new Bumblebee from the movie Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. He's the same Bumblebee from the first film, but the Camaro into which he transforms has been spiffed up for the sequel with a new front bumper, chin spoiler, hood scoop and different wheels. Whereas the first Bumblebee was based on the Camaro Concept, it appears that the new one is based on the actual production car.
Joining the orange Camaro in Chicago will be other characters from the film in their car forms. New additions to the sequel brandishing a GM badge include a 2010 Chevy Volt called Jolt, a Chevy Spark called Skids and a Trax concept called Mudflat (together known as the Twins), and a character called Sideswipe based on the still-yet-to-be-revealed Corvette Centennial Concept. GM didn't specify in its press release (included after the jump) which characters are accompanying Bumblebee to Chicago, but the venue at McCormick Place is one of the largest exposition centers in the world, so the more Transformers the merrier.

On the other hand, the Volt is sexy in blue.
Bumblebee... I saw pic #3 before, but not the other mugshots. The horror.
Oh, and Mudflat? wtf is Mudflat?
gay.
Can't wait to see the movie.lolz

They ruined Bumblebee. The big black cutouts up front look like hell. The wheels and "brakes" look like they were pulled straight off a $19 DUB City toy. And the tires have that "I couldn't afford the right size" look... or are those really plastic wheel covers?
Just awful.
Michael Bay, you ruined my second childhood! ;)

Bumblebee apparently still has the mirrors from the concept.

I can't handle calling this Camaro "Bumblebee"... so I love the look of this Bold Orange Camaro... especially that they used the correct Chevy Bowtie in this movie car. Lose the current Garish Gold (& tacky) Bowtie for the production Camaro.

Not only does it have the skinny concept mirrors, it also has the skinny side reflectors, giant wheels (with extra bogus pizza-plater disk brakes), slightly chopped roof, and ginormous circular-with-a-flat-side exhausts mounted higher at the rear corners. I'd say this is another iteration built from the concept car molds, if not simply a pimped out car from the first movie.

How about bringing cars in which people can seat, so we can for ourselves see the interior and feel it, and how about holding a contest, so a few lucky winners can test drive a Camaro (with a GM guy inside)
One of the question for the ruffle could be
Guess how much GM spend on Wagoners personal "luxury needs" in 2008?

The Camaro you see here is a concept with bits of Camaro and GTO Interior. On top of a GTO Platform. And it has no brake calipers. So if you wanna ride in it, be my guest, but it will tell you nothing about the production car.

I wasn't referring to Bumblebee, i was referring to Camaro as a car in general. Since it is going on sale in 2-3 months, it is time people get hands on it............it will only increase the demand for this gorgeous car.

I agree, but as a GM fan, I can honestly tell you that GM doesn't think that way.

Come on! I'm getting tired of hearing about the Camaro. How long have we been hearing about this, ten years now?

then simply avert your eyes and ears...its not that hard

3 years, and you'll be hearing a lot more about the Camaro in the coming months. Believe it.

Big deal. We first saw the GT-R as a concept in Gran Turismo 3 back in 2001. It finally came out in 2008. The Camaro is positively quick to production compared to that.

'you'll be hearing a lot more about the Camaro in the coming months.'
Yeah, we'll be hearing that no one is buying them same as how no one is buying any cars right now.

JG: Well the 11K orders for the 2010 Camaro (80% SS) says otherwise.
jg 3:18PM (2/06/2009)
11000?! What a screaming sucess. I bet they never expect to sell more than 10000.
Orders taken last year when people had jobs or disposable income is a bit different than actually taking delivery. Let's table this until next year this time.
BTW I hope you're right and I'm not. Just because I drive a Bimmer does not in any way mean I hate America or want American built cars to fall on their faces.

I am on Camaro5, and I talk to a few people that, by the day, are signing up for Camaros. They have the money saved up, or have sold their cars and have the money. Even with this economy, they won't let it get in their way of getting their hands on a new camaro.

Totally UNFAIR! I wanted those guys at Detroit last month! *pout* So not fair.......
And it's "Mudflap" not "Mudflat".
