Pirelli working with Brembo and Magneti Marelli on Cyber Tire

Pirelli's Cyber Tire will provide real-time tire performance information via a chip/transponder setup in the tire tread. Operating temperature and pressures, typology of the road's surface, and vertical load exerted on the tire will be among the data collected and monitored. The system will work in conjunction with another Pirelli invention, the Cyber Wheel, which will convey wheel information such as hub loads in the same way.
Now that the tire company has partnered with Brembo and Magnetti Marelli on the Cyber Tire, the tie-up could mean a system that quickly transfers information from the tire to the driver, car, and brakes, allowing for more informed and instantaneous performance changes based on driving conditions.

That's so awesome. I look forward to more ideas like this.

"Hello, Big Brother, this is Cyber Tire. Me and Cyber Wheel just want you to know we're doing about 95 right now..."
Still though, it does sound pretty cool.

you know, there are a lot less complicated systems than a cyber tire to tell what speed you're doing....
A reasonably sporty car today has enough sensors to control it's behaviour on the road that tracking only a fraction of them would be enough to tell wether you were driving dangerously or not, but I haven't heard about anyone ending up with a ticket because the ABS ratted on him...
There was another article about the Cyber Tire last year and nobody seemed to consider the fact that Pirelli might want customers to ACTUALLY BUY the damn tires.
So no, there won't be any big brother.
