Robots taking over: Ironhide, Twins and Megatron revealed

As we get closer to the June 26th release of Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, we can expect that more and more bits will leak out regarding the various plot lines and, more importantly for Autoblog, the robots and their alt-mode vehicles. Such is the case today with new images and a few details regarding Ironhide, the Chevy Beat and Trax "Twins" and Megatron, who may or may not make a return appearance in the sequel.
After looking at the pics, which are from the website for Activision's Transformers: The Game (it's since been taken down), we're a bit worried the Twins that we expect to transform into the Chevy Beat and Trax will take on a Jar Jar-like role in ROTF, but we remain hopeful after our early misgivings regarding the first film were (mostly, some, not at all?) unfounded. Megatron is sporting a different look too, with what some believe are tank treads on his legs. Want more? A trailer for the upcoming movie is scheduled for the Super Bowl this Sunday. Thanks for the tip, 94 Taurus owner!

I am NOT a GM fan whatsoever, but Ironhide looks like a badass and so does Megatron, as always.

What does being a GM fan have to do with it?
Farmboy 7:42PM (1/30/2009)
Well, the fact that GM sponsors the whole Transformers franchise now.

Megatron totally resembles the Aveo

Yes, I'm aware of that. I still don't see what that has to do with whether or not Ironhide and Megatron look badass in their robot modes.

There, there... I'm sure they're finalizing their designs there.

Megatron with tank treads would not be unprecedented. He had them in "Transformers: Beast Machines" too. Not nearly as cool as "Beast Wars" but at least they managed to end the Transformers story once and for all.

Ok, still love Ironhide and Megs, but what the heck were they thinking when they made those "twins"??? They just look dumb and poorly constructed and ugh... I really hope that they don't look just like that for the movie *crosses fingers*

Ummm.. isn't Megatron dead? His dead 'body' was laying in the streets...
I know it's a movie but how's he coming back? Weak.

You didn't watch the old cartoons, or the original animated Transformers movie, did you? It is not uncommon for characters in the "Transformers universe" to be killed off, only to later reappear with a slightly different look.
Sounds to me like you didn't pay close attention to the end of the last movie either. ;)

IIRC, Galvatron is coming in this one, which in the original series was a ressurrected Megatron of some sort.

That is of course, the G1 series. Not the 10 million other Transformers universes.

These new robots are getting that "funk oversize everything" look, much like all the newer Japanese cartoons: the whole ricer look.
Me not likey. Looks overdone. Even though Megatron was able to go from handgun to truck sized robot in the old cartoons, at least the transformed end result looked basic and realistic--these look riced out, even compared to the first movie, which was pretty good.
Spielberg must be off hands on this one--so far this sequel says "all Bay and only Bay", and that's not good.

I dunno, the new Transformers just look like a jumbled mess to me. I really liked the movie, but most of the cool detail is lost as soon as they move around, let alone when there is a fight scene. I would prefer a little more solid metal surfaces than all the wires, cables etc showing.

Yeah, it's like trying to read a newspaper after it's been shredded, wadded into a ball and then thrown into your face. Sort of difficult to focus.

I wish they would do a transformer of the G8.

So what exactly is Starscream going to be this time, did he leave to rebuild Megatron. Maybe he'll be a Space Shuttle.

Does it really matter what the robots look like, since they were only featured in about 2% of the original movie, anyway? Bay seems to think we're more interested in the comical bumbling of his stupidly-expansive Cast of Human Idiots than the giant f**king robots. Riiight.
I wonder if there'll be an Aveobot, who speaks only Korean and is intensely disliked by virtually everyone.
