We don't know what it is yet, but according to the folks at InsideLine, Carroll Shelby is preparing to unveil a new special-edition Ford Mustang next week. Rumored to be less powerful than the GT500KR, the limited-run model will make its debut as part of a benefit dinner for a new museum of the National Hot Rod Association (NHRA), held during the Winternationals. Shelby will reportedly be joined at the unveiling of the new 'Stang by top-fuel drag-racing legend Don "The Snake" Prudhomme. We'll be eagerly watching the timing lights to see what the Snake Charmer has in store for gearheads this time, and hope that Ol' Shel is feeling better.

The Terlingua maybe?? A V-6 Shelby...sounds wrong but in the day of "gas sippers" might do well??

I would love to see the Terlingua return with an updated 3.5L TT-V6 ecoboost powertrain but it would likely have to be updated specifically for the RWD Mustang from the FWD/AWD Taurus.

This is just what we need, since there clearly haven't been enough special-edition Mustangs.

Will this be number 101 or 102?

Exactly... how special is it really if there is a new special edition every freaking month?

OMG A SPECIAL EDITION MUSTANG!!!!
id put money that non-edition mustangs will be worth more later down the road.
Rogue_G 10:49AM (1/29/2009)
At this rate, we might finally see an affordable Shelby special-edition. I mean, how many more rich Mustang-aficionados can there be after all these special-editions, right?

As has been pointed out in several other posts, there is a very simple solution if you don't want to read about anouther special edition Mustang.
It involves that wheel on your mouse.

"So will this car get you from gas station to gas station?"
Yes. Really fast too.
Saw a guy on Pass Time with a '07 GT500 run a 10.5@ 130+...the only changes he made (supposedly) was a KB 2.8 SC running 18lbs of boost. He looked to be about 270+lbs himself!
I thought that was pretty quick...I guessed a mid-11 time.

The Snake and Shelby were seen in the parking lot at LVMS together last week so probably finalizing everything, ect.

Quit crying about special edition Mustangs. If you don't like them, don't buy them. There is obviously a market for them, let Shelby, Roush, Saleen, and Ford hit that market. We should be happy that this many people want performance cars, otherwise even more will die out.

Man, for automotive enthusiasts, the posters here sure know how to complain. What do you care if the Mustang is so popular that everybody is putting out a special version of it? That is like complaining there are too many Honda Tuners out there. Just be happy that there is someone out there putting together some cars that might interest you no matter what make it is. Just because you don't dig it, doesn't mean everyone should stop.
