We don't know what it is yet, but according to the folks at InsideLine, Carroll Shelby is preparing to unveil a new special-edition Ford Mustang next week. Rumored to be less powerful than the GT500KR, the limited-run model will make its debut as part of a benefit dinner for a new museum of the National Hot Rod Association (NHRA), held during the Winternationals. Shelby will reportedly be joined at the unveiling of the new 'Stang by top-fuel drag-racing legend Don "The Snake" Prudhomme. We'll be eagerly watching the timing lights to see what the Snake Charmer has in store for gearheads this time, and hope that Ol' Shel is feeling better.

At this rate, we might finally see an affordable Shelby special-edition. I mean, how many more rich Mustang-aficionados can there be after all these special-editions, right?

it will be race car only not approved for street use? fall in line there wont be too many of these. once they conform to the mininum quantity for the class they want to run, the prod ceases. this will certainly a V8 engined.

The Terlingua maybe?? A V-6 Shelby...sounds wrong but in the day of "gas sippers" might do well??

As has been pointed out in several other posts, there is a very simple solution if you don't want to read about anouther special edition Mustang.

It involves that wheel on your mouse.

Well...a lot of stupid people that rather type complaining than skip over it like I skip over every fuel efficient related BS on this blog.

I can't get over how stunning the nose of the new GT500 looks. It has a strong hint of the original Shelby Cobra in the above picture that leaves the new Camaro and Challenger far behind.
The new Mustang looks like a true evolution of the Pony car while the others look like retro Muscle car sedans.

Man, for automotive enthusiasts, the posters here sure know how to complain. What do you care if the Mustang is so popular that everybody is putting out a special version of it? That is like complaining there are too many Honda Tuners out there. Just be happy that there is someone out there putting together some cars that might interest you no matter what make it is. Just because you don't dig it, doesn't mean everyone should stop.

      Your kidding.

A Mustang "Special" or Limited edition. I didn't see that coming.

Quit crying about special edition Mustangs. If you don't like them, don't buy them. There is obviously a market for them, let Shelby, Roush, Saleen, and Ford hit that market. We should be happy that this many people want performance cars, otherwise even more will die out.
