Click above for a high-res gallery of the Cadillac CTS Coupe

The launch of the Cadillac CTS Coupe, which was supposed to be shown at last year's LA Auto Show, has been pushed back to the summer of 2010. Cadillac's director of communications cited "changes to the overall portfolio" as the reason, which is understandable, but doesn't make us any less happy about having to wait. The CTS Wagon is still on schedule for this spring, as is the SRX for this summer. When the CTS Coupe does arrive, it could either be a 2010 or 2011 model.

Can't wait for the wagon! The Magnum has been a great ride, but it's time for something a little more posh. :D

A CTS-V wagon... I'd have to buy more underwear.

Maybe they realized it should be called the CTC
      CTS- Catera Touring Sedan
      CTC- Catera Touring Coupe
        No. Its C-segment Touring Sedan.

OH MY FREAKING GOD!! This is my next car! Now I have to drive my Infiniti for another freakin' year! I have been salivating over the prospect of getting a CTS Coupe for a year already!
I know exactly what you mean...

While unfortunate this does make sense. Coupes don't do well in a down market, so they probably want to wait for the upturn that's maybe supposed to happen next year. It also gives them time and money to have a good launch on the SRX and CTS wagon. Plus it spaces them out since there isn't much in the pipeline after that. XLR production is ending soon.

Hate to see them delay such a desirable car-- this meets the standard they need to have throughout the product line.

However the coupe segment might not bring enough business to be worth the investment in this dire moment.

Seriously, GM, you need to get your priorities in line. Yeah, the tree-huggers are clammering for microcars with engines lifted from electric lawnmowers, but cars like this are what generate profits. Remember what those are?!

(Yes, this is purely a self-serving message. I was planning to buy my first GM when this came out, but now... I don't know if I can wait.)

Shouldn't that be called the CTC? CTS stands for Catera Touring Sedan, so CTS Coupe is a bit of a misnomer. Of course, they probably don't count on many people knowing that, so I guess the name is safe.
Well, considering the ETC replaced the Eldorado, the STS replaced the Seville, the DTS replaced the Deville, and the CTS replaced the Catera, it's pretty obvious what the C stands for, at least unofficially. But that's beside the point, as it's the "S" that's the operative initial.
No. According to Cadillac it stands for C-segment Touring Sedan.

Now, that the CTS name has created so much buzz, they want the coupe and wagon to ride that wave. Plus it will allow them to add those sales in with CTS wagon sales so it will look better against 3/5 series sales, C/E class sales, etc.

I do understand what cars replaced what, but I'm telling you Cadillac doesn't call it a "Catera" of any kind. They have distanced themself from that vehicle.

It makes sense. GM has dozens of halo/hot/sports cars but very little must-have volume cars. They need to get the Cruze, the new Lacrosse out the door and continue to make sure the Malibu gains market-share.

Looks like a sharpened GT-R, or Infiniti
        or removed completely.

Dude... you have to get your eyes checked.

I think the CTS coupe is Pontiac's business case for the next GTO.

So beautiful...yet can be so beastly...can't wait to see the V-series version.

I think the engineers at M-power & AMG are gasping with sighs of relief that the CTS coupe has been postponed for now.
I doubt it. This has potential but until it delivers M won't bat an eye. If Caddy was the industry leader they wouldn't be too concerned about a new product either until it showed up and endured.

I know some people are excited about the CTS Wagon, but when I saw it at the LA auto show, yours truly was the ONLY one standing near the car. I got the impression that there wasn't much interest in the car, a shame really because I thought it translated well into a wagon form.

      NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!

I guess it's the Camaro SS after all... oh well, not too bad I guess.
I'm sure you'll be very happy with it :D
