Click above for a high-res gallery of the gold C63

This United Arab Emirates-registered gold-mirror-finish Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG was caught at the Bling on Wheels Show, otherwise known as the valet area at the Mall of the Emirates in Dubai. While we have nothing untoward to say about someone who decks out his/her ride in any manner desired, we are always intrigued when someone looks to have spent the worth of a car – on top of the price of the car itself – on "beautification."

There is some debate as to whether this is a real paint job or a wrap, but parking your gold-wrapped C63 next to a genuinely chrome SLR would be shamefully ludicrous. A C63 AMG goes for about 300,000 AED (about $82,000 USD). Unless gold paint bubbles out of the ground as well, a liquid gold paint job has to cost a good portion of that. And all for a C63? Really? We won't ask whether it looks good... we'll just guide you to the gallery of high-res images below. Hat tip to AB reader Chad.

My father owns a workshop for metal works and when I was a kid, I use to look after gold plating jobs all the time. You'd be surprised how little gold it takes to to wrap this car. All what it needs is a proper clean scrub (chemical), have adequate and large basins and a good thick layer of chrome.

Also, there are companies now that produce industrial paints that have almost 100% metallic finish - and can be applied on on non metal parts.

I especially like the last photo that gives the illusion of someone ramming a shopping cart into the side of it.

Ok, that's the final straw. I'm going off the grid and will drive an electric scooter powered by solar panels on the roof of my sustainably-built shack before I spend any more of my money on oil from these greedy tacky mofos. Good grief.

So Sept. 11 doesn't move you. But this does?

dubai really is disgusting and so are the rest of the gulf arab nations. it's not anti-arab to say that because im not attacking them for being arab. its just that all this disgusting wealth is in the hands of a select few - those in charge of the oil or members of the royal [inbred] families as well as a a few others - while the rest of the people living in those countries are poor nomads, foreign workers, or average muhamads that are deprived of basic rights and kept away from the picturesque landmarks being built to serve as a playground for the wealthy. i'm not saying that if i suddenly won a significant amount of $ in a lottery i wouldnt go buy things that i dont exactly need, it's just that the way they use and flaunt theyre wealth in the gulf deserves no admiration.

        a. why would i be bitter about mccain if im one of the people who sees past all the glamor of dubai and sees the plight of those not enjoying in the prosperity of the few?
        b. im secure at work and at home and bringing up issues that have affected millions of people in this country shows your true character and insensitivity to people who are really hurting from it
        c. im not bitter that i cant afford $[insert insanely ridiculous amount here] per night accommodations at a hotel that is shaped like a fruit and has coolers underneath the sand of their private beach to keep my feet from being burned, im just as happy being on the jersey shore where people are allowed to have fun
        c. its not complaining/whining/bitching as you describe...it's stating an opinion which is something that the other 98% of the population of the uae cannot do

Also if in fact that it is none of what I had previously mentioned, which I highly doubt, don't you think there are people in this world who get tired of people like you trying to be a polite racist and judging another culture because the people do not act, walk, and talk or have traditions like yours? Weather you choose to believe that how another culture choses to live their life is wrong to you is not your place to judge. There are plenty things wrong with the so called culture here in the USA as well starting mostly from the greed and arrogance amongst each other, in wall street, the lack of financially educating people in schools to prepare them for the real world, and instead have problems like getting suckered on these bad mortgage deals that are plaguing this country, big companies like the Detroit 3 going out of control and pleading for hard earned American tax dollars to fix the mess they, and financial companies have created, the lack of making economics and world studies a strong priority in our educational system and in turn having a country full of so called graduates who don't know a darn thing about anything outside the USA, except from what they hear on FOX News, CNN, or other US biased media sources, creating a lot of ignorant people in this country with very closed minds and hearts.

I could make a nice 6 page document of the many ills of the USA so called culture (if you want to call it that). Need I go on? I didn't think so.

So before you go shaking your dirty little finger with that "shame on you" attitude to another culture you had better take a good hard look at yourself in the mirror. Unless you are God himself you really do not reserve the right to judge another culture. Also for future references, before you start spewing politely racial comments, please go and take a class in economics 101 and for once in your life leave the USA to travel to other countries, not just watching some stupid documentaries on your computer or TV. Who knows you might actually learn something and might find that some other country's cultures may be better, and have a lot more to offer, than what you were told or heard from TV

So reading past your whining, bitching, and complaining statements i can only assume that you are really either pissed off that you did not get the raise you were hoping, lost your job and unable to find work, unable to afford your mortgage or pay your bills on time, had an unexpected expense that threw off your entire checking book, or still bitterly angry that McCain lost the election.

        Which is it?

actually i was born in lebanon and i have lived in turkey and germany prior to my family moving here towards the end of high school. i bet that surprises you and you thought i was a privileged white boy from upper middle class suburbia who went to a liberal college and hypocritically criticizes the rest of the world. well actually it seems you think i'm unemployed and that my family lost everything in the madoff scandal. either way there is no need to argue that every culture has its problems and is viewed differently however i can also write a 6 page document outlining what is right about our culture (as well as for the other countries i have lived in) that should be inspiring the world. if you're so sick and disgusted to live here then maybe you should leave instead of taking advantage of the opportunities offfered to you here (if you even are in america as we speak). you are not god either and i doubt you're a world renowned scholar so you cannot judge people for stating their beliefs and try to assume anything about them nor state your opinion as if its infallible.

if you would like to discuss the bailout to the big 3 and the causes and effects of the financial crisis then i happily would in the right forum, however this is not that place. this was a post showing a car decorated in a way that the owner loved but allowing for us to express our distaste in if we felt so accordingly.

That's some really poor craftsmanship on that car - lot's of orange peel in the close up shot. That being said, I can see the practicality of having a chrome car in a desert country, especially if you combine it with light interior.
