Chrysler begins Employee Pricing Plus Plus to move cars, cars

Just about everyone in the automotive industry is struggling, but Chrysler is taking the brunt of the punishment. The Pentastar's sales were down 30% in 2008, and the prospects aren't so hot for 2009. In an effort to drum up dealer traffic, Chrysler is pulling out all the stops with its new Employee Pricing Plus Plus campaign. The name isn't very catchy, but if you have an inkling to purchase a Chrysler, Dodge or Jeep, this may be as good a time as any.
For starters, Chrysler is offering up its "been there, done that" employee discount. To make the deal that much more enticing, Chrysler is also offering cash rebates of up to $6,000 on 2008 models and $3,500 for 2009 models. On top of those two deals, Chrysler is also offering 0% interest for up to 48 months and another $1,000 in customer cash for using Chrysler financial. We're no dealer sales rep, but these are some big league incentives. Heck, it's almost a liquidation sale. If you're getting ready to log off your PC and head to the nearest Chrysler dealer, we regret to inform you that the Dodge Sprinter is not included in the program – sorry. The Employee Pricing Plus Plus program begins January 26, and it will likely run until people start buying Chrysler products.

If gas were not an issue I would be in a Pontiac G8 GT or a Charger R/T.

Gas in not an issue any longer. It's very un-American of you not to think in a short term only.

gas is not a problem, I refuse to let OPEC ruin my fun. Plus if I spend less on eating because I'm buying more fuel, I lose weight and ultimately lower my 0-60 and trap times. HAHA

Gas wouldn't be an issue, but unfortunately Congress (and now The Executive, FTW!) mandate that we are only allowed to get a majority of our energy resources from artificially expensive and economically/politically/militarily hostile locations and regimes.
If only we could produce energy at home (sigh)...but that's just not allowed.
I mean, how much do you would think bottled water would cost if you had to get it from the Middle East ?

Gas isn't the issue. The issue is Chrysler cars suck and they all look as ugly as a newborn Jackal.

Fiat's offer of partnership must have been a relief to the executives at Chrysler.

The LX cars and trucks have always sold pretty well here in Texas. Even when they were still building Magnums they were hard to find because they didn't sit on the lot for long.
Unfortunately the over SUV'ed lineup is still suffering. A $44K Jeep Commander can be had for about $30k around here.

I've been very impressed with the 2009 Jeep Patriot North (Canadian only) and I'm considering purchasing one to replace my Neon which has done very well over the last 8 years. Autoblog, go get a 2009 with the new interior and do another review. 39/40MPG (Imperial, 4x4/FWD) on the hwy, a nice 5 speed manual, it's a pretty good bang for the buck. I do mostly highway driving, so the mileage was quite impressive for what it is.
The new Charger's interior is improved, but the 300 is still lacking if only because it's marketed as a premium vehicle. Totally fitting for the Charger, good, but nothing special for the 300.
I agree that there isn't too much to consider in the Mopar camp, I hope they can get their act together within the next 18-24 months.

I guarantee you we here in the US don't get that engine.

Throw in a 40 inch flat screen LCD TV and a kitten and you got a deal.

Since only the Sprinter is listed as exempt, I guess that means the Viper is included in the program? Although, $6000 off a Viper isn't exactly big-league savings. That's probably still above invoice price, which I think should be the starting point for car negotiations right now anyway.

Even though I am in the market for a new car, there is not a single Chrysler, Jeep or Dodge I would want to buy. Does not matter how much they discount them.

I'm in exactly the same position. I would consider the Jeep Commander, if the mileage was not so horrible.

Is the Patriot really bad? A small 4wd Cherokee looking thing that gets decent mileage.

Actually what about the Wrangler? Lots of 2008s on the lots around here.

$6,000 off a SRT8 300C isn't too bad
