VIDEO: Godzilla as Snow Monster - GT-R dons Blizzaks, runs Nordschleife

All the dumb, fun crap we ever did involving cars and snow while growing up has been rendered fully obsolete by the GT-R freaks at Autohaus Brömmler, who threw a set of Blizzak LM-25 performance winters on their project car and then took it to the snow-covered 'Ring. And here we thought handbrake turns in Dad's old Subaru GL wagon after a fresh snowfall were a gas. Watch through to the end, lest you miss the snowy donut conclusion. Godzilla? Nah... more like a Wampa. Follow the jump to drink in the awesome. Thanks, Franz!

If it can almost snap Jeremy's neck on Top Gear on a dry track, think of the trouble it can cause in the snow!

I saw a GT-R on the street today. Sweet looking car.

It really is.
I saw my second one in the "wild" two weeks ago at a costco parking lot in Chula Vista, CA
What a GT-R was doing in Chula Vista... I don't know lol

One of my co-workers (in San Diego as well) bought one and has driven it to work a few times now. The car is huge, heavy, and ugly. That being said, he thinks it's fun to drive. That is all.

@ Doug
that's what your friend also says what he talks about your GF/wife. Rode it a couple times while you're at work and she's huge, heavy, and ugly. Only worth riding for a couple times.

I saw one about a month ago on I 70. Red one, not bad but I thought it was not better looking than my friend's G35 Coupe. The weird thing is about a week later at pretty much the identical place on I 70, I saw a Camaro tester in white with a black front fascia. Maybe I need to stake out that piece of interstate.

I saw another one today. It said Skyline on the back. I wasn't aware they were called Skyline in the US.

I wish more people (and by people, I mean smart, careful car enthusiasts) could experience driving in heavy snow more . . and screw the snow tires, I've been using S. Drives all winter with twice the fun. When the snow melts this year, I'm not sure what I'm going to do. Dry pavement suddenly seems like going back to driving an automatic.
Doug 12:44AM (1/21/2009)
My thoughts exactly. I'm no rally driver, but just living in Michigan for 23 years I'm pretty sure I could have driven that thing better than that. Hell my Mom could have driven that thing better. I'm not saying it wouldn't be fun no matter what your skills, just don't make a video and publish it on the net with those skills (or lack thereof).

I don't think it's realistic to assume he doesn't have too much winter driving experience . . he made it around the track which is better than 98% of winter drivers here in traverse city could do. It's clearly one of the very few times he's took this car out in the snow: it looks like he's testing the waters for the first time at 1:40, where he breaks a few times and looks like he's going to lose it . . and then the drifts become cleaner as the tape progresses.

I saw one on the street as well and I'm still not a fan of the looks. So many areas of the car that I don't like.
Levi 8:28PM (1/20/2009)
I've been driving in muck like that for months now, and those fools have no idea how to do a snow-drift. Unless those tires stick to the iced over pavement like tongues to playground equipment, or the AWD system is really that amazing, those guys have no clue about how to handle a car in the snow or control a spin.

they are German... It's ok.
TurboPanzer 9:32PM (1/20/2009)
The car was probably doing it all by itself. The driver was in control of the heated seat.
tankd0g 9:56PM (1/20/2009)
I think the AWD system on that car will take much of the fun out of it actually, you have the sum total of the world's computing power in 1990 working to keep you going straight. See this weeks Fifth Gear with tiff driving the new Gallardo in snow with ESP turned off for some real fun.
tankd0g 10:01PM (1/20/2009)
I think the power of a half dozen Alienware gaming machines tends to dull the sideways fun in that car.
GTRbrian 8:29PM (1/20/2009)
ya it looked like my sister was driving lol
