General Motors is spicing up its non-ZR1 Corvette line with a new Competition Sport package for the 2009 model-year. There's a bit of substance here, as the kit adds the Z51 Performance Package, performance exhaust system, differential cooler and a set of racing pedals to the standard 1LT package, resulting in a power peak of 436 horsepower. Those planning on actually visiting the track can opt for the race-ready Z06 package and its 505-horsepower 7.0L V8. Visual mods for both versions include Competition Gray stripes, wheels and headlamps along with a splattering of "Jake" and CSR logos inside and out. A set of racing numbers will also be delivered to the buyer based on the particular car's build sequence. The official announcement from GM is pasted after the break.

Sad. We're back to tape and paint packages? I had hopes for performance-based upgrades. The Z51 you can get without this "package".

looks like the Drag-Queen Special Edition Corvette.... and I love Corvettes.

Ever since the C6 was first released, I always thought that it would look so much better if the headlight backing was painted black (sorry, i mean "Competition Gray), rather than body color. Looks like I was right.

Too bad it took them this long to do it, and only on a "special edition" car. I do like the stripes, very tasteful!

I do not like the stickers at all, only things I like are the headlights (finally) and the diff cooler, everything else could have been done better IMO. Z51 package, couldnt they have given buyers more!

      As stated before...that is HOT!

The diff cooler is nice. The appearance package doesn't really impress me except for maybe the headlights.

I'm so done with those SSR/Vette wing mirrors now.

This is it? They release a Corvette ClubSport and all they can do is throw some stickers on a stock car? This goes way beyond 'missed opportunity' territory and borders on insulting. I opened this post hoping to find the Corvette RS/Superleggera I've been begging for for years, and this is it? Oh, GM, why do you constantly force me to hate loving you?
