Detroit 2009: Hot Wheels

Sure, there were a few brands missing from the 2009 Detroit Auto Show, but we never got the feeling that things were bleak... until we went looking for ten cool wheels. After walking the floor twice, we were able to come up with nine. America's premiere auto show had left us walking in circles, one wheel short, debating whether an ugly wheel with internally-mounted calipers was cool enough to make the list. And it was then that the real tragedy of this show hit us: not the subtracted brand count, but the lack of concept cars. With money reduced to growing on tumbleweeds and not on trees, those big-dollar flights of fancy had been (mostly) grounded. Instead, there were some magnificent production vehicles (the humongous 2010 Ford Taurus FTW!), and hereby we present the best wheels we found among them.

The Audi's have to be the Ugliest I have seen in a while. Though I must admit, the S60 and Cadillac's have got my vote. Though the B.A.T. 11 is undeniably awesome.

Umm......sorry aside from the classic Volkswagen wheels those others fail miserably...

I completely disagree. I say the VW one is the only one that fails, the others are totally bad ass.

ok ok.....ill show a bit more love to the Benz wheels....but after that...wow...a slew of ugliness. What ever happened to the simplicity of a nice BBS style wheel....sigh.....and dont get me started on those R8 wheels :faceplant:

ok ok aside from the Benz wheel to....that ones nice. But the others are horrible. That R8 wheel makes baby jesus cry. True story.

Those wheels are impressive, except the Caddy and the Volvo. They were okay but not to my taste.

Wow, I thought that the Audi R8 V10's wheels were some of the ugliest. Fantastic car, but the wheels were a no-go, design wise.

The 200C Wheels were my favorite, but you had to go and ruin it with the vagina reference. Yuck! Phewy! Barf!

I will admit. When I first saw the headline, I thought, "Hot Wheels? You mean the sweet little cars!?!" lol. Ahhh, childhood memories.
