Barrett-Jackson 2009: The Corvettes
Corvettes have always been well represented at Barrett-Jackson, and with GM's Heritage Collection added to the list, there are plenty of interesting 'Vettes set to cross the auction block. Among the collection is a one-off 1997 Corvette Tiger Shark concept, a 1989 Corvette Snake Skinner that sold for $176,000 on Wednesday, and the very first ZR-1 built for 1992. If that particular ZR-1 doesn't suit your fancy, there are a few others available including a 1990 coupe and 1993 anniversary model, although they each have to be purchased with a corresponding 2009 model. Some other notable offerings include a C5 chassis display, a 750-horsepower Lingenfelter Corvette, and a beautiful 1967 coupe with a modern Z06 motor and transmission. Browse through the high-res gallery below and pick out your favorite. Note that the gallery is not a full list of the Corvettes at the auction, but does represent some of the better examples.

The Corvette's one of those rare cars that started out looking good, and somehow over the years just kept getting looking better.

Completely impressive collection of Corvettes at Barret Jackson '09.
3 That really caught my eye were:
-1997 Tiger Shark Concept (Jay Leno owns a customized vette in honor of this)
-1989 Snake Skinner
-1992 Corvette ZR1 first production model
These probably will not see the auction block again for considerable length of time.

Agreed. And while I am not a big Vette fan I liked the "Snake Skinner" despite being a big Viper fan.
Hey, Autoblog, just a thought, but it would have been cool to see have the prices the cars went for in the information below the photos.

When I was a kid my dad had a '67 just like the last car in the set (427/400). It hurts my head to think about what it is worth today.

When I was a kid my dad had a '67 w/ 427/400 just like the yellow car in the last picture. For some reason we sold it to get a speed boat.

A 1967 427 Corvette is one of my dream rides.

Why the lack of 3rd generation corvettes? Those were the best looking ones imo.

Ugh, nothing against GM's cars but I've seen enough Chevrolets at Barrett Jackson, let alone Corvettes. Between the commercials and lack of variety of what they show on air, Speed's coverage of Barrett Jackson has been nearly unwatchable. I swear, Speed has GM's dong so far down their throat they'll be spitting up bowties next week.

anyone else notice the typos for ZR1 and ZR-1? on the display for the sale of both cars, it is spelled ZR1 for both, and in the description it is spelled ZR-1 for both. the new '09 is ZR1, the original is ZR-1
