The current Buick LaCrosse is one of those cars that passes you on the road and you don't even notice it. GM and the Buick design team are looking to remedy that situation with the 2010 LaCrosse. Classy sheet metal, vastly improved interior materials, and an all-new powertrain will help the new LaCrosse compete with the likes of the Lexus ES350 and the Lincoln MKS. A 260 hp, 3.0L direct injected V6 and a 3.6L powerplant that outputs 280 ponies means the new LaCrosse will also be able to compete on performance and efficiency as well.

oh my gosh you are so right how could i have not seen the fact that they copied every line from bmw. it has 4 doors it seats 5 it has a dashboard omfg call the bmw lawyers we have a big lawsuit on our hands.

Before I read the comments, all I was thinking about was how identical the head and taillights were of a 5 series. Oddly enough that was the first comment. but as interior goes I like it, but there are WAY to many buttons.

I'd say there's unfortunately (from a branding perspective) some Cruze in those headlights and some Lincoln MKT in the flanks, but I'd stop right about there.

No need to rate down Yura for pointing out that it does look like BMW 5 headlights. Now we're just rating down for pointing out facts? If I may add, the bottom looks like a 3 series sedan.

you know what it looks like? ohhh, what is it? oh yeah, a BUICK! they stole that badge off of 08 LaCrosse. they copied that pure and simple. that's what it looks like. except for they improved the sheetmetal, interior , and engines.
really good job GM. if only the economy wasnt in the crapper, you'd have a hard time keeping these. I think GM will be garnering some conquest sales, meager though the overall qty will be.

Ok, so i'm into the cars. I have a layman's understanding of performance, quality and with a professional's understanding of technology and costs. The one thing I havent been able to nail down has been the styling/design.
Humor me if you will. What qualifies as good styling? I understand that Caddys have that boxy shape and that's their signature. However, I cant really tell what's considered great and mediocre. Now I look at this and I think, it looks a lot like some design cues were followed from the Ford lincoln MK design language. Am I right on this? To me this doesnt look bad. If Ford and GM goes for this, then this is the American design direction and should appeal to all of our tastes. Then in what aspect is this bad?
And then on a side note, how is what GM has done to ford/bmw not the same as what china is doing to other niche models in copying the design. Is there something there a bit more subtlety in the GM design that would say, it's similar to ford/bmw, but very different. Can someone point it out aside from the grill?

Finally some sheetmetal that justifies the brand! I think this will be a hit with sedan buyers, it offers alot of style in a segment full of bland cars.
Its easily better looking - inside and out - than the Japanese competition, while at the same time raising the bar for American premium sedans. Well done GM!

I'm with you, I'll never buy a Buick (not in the target demo of 100demillion years old) but this thing looks great inside, easily trumping the "look mah, 80's merc buttons and a slightly darker shade of faux wood" standards of lexus. Jalop said it'll make even the ardent of skeptics take a second look and from a rear or interior perspective, I concur completely.

I'm REALLY impressed. It looks like a cross between a CTS and a Mazda 6, with little elements of Acura, but better looking than all of them. Great job, hopefully it will sell well.

This will definitely hurt sales in Lexus's sedans as will the Cadillac SRX vs. the very-Toyota-looking RX 350.
Not sure people will cross shop the Buick and Acura, but Lexus has it's work cut out for itself.
I will say though, that this car will be mistaken for the Lincoln MKS, or X or whatever the hell it is, the newest large sedan. They look awfully similar. But the Buick is cheaper so Lincoln might have a bit of fight.
Of course, this is all prediction (notice I didn't use the word "speculation" like the rest of the world?) as people are barely buying fuel let alone new cars at the moment. Anything is possible; hasn't been this tough since 1980.

Yes, Lexus ES, GS and Infiniti M will be pretty much dead after this car reaches the market. They offer nothing in plus, beside the hefty price tag. If the base price of this car will be in high 20s it will wipe out the market segment.

It will compete the the Lexus ES. Excluding the personal preference of looks, the GS is an upgrade in every sense of the word. I'd also say it does not compare to an Infiniti M. The only people who would consider it over either of those would be ignoring suspension & handling, power, and RWD vs FWD.
If you were to load the LaCrosse out with options you'd probably be pushing the same price range as a GS460 or M45, and at that price would you really choose the LaCrosse?

If recent GMs are any indication, one area the LaCrosse should out do the Lincoln is in the ride/handling/driving dynamics area. GM has been producing some mighty fine handling vehicles as of late with just the right amount of driver feedback that Lincoln (and Lexus) just can't compete with.
