Bloc Rockin' Beat(er): Volga GAZ-21 meets Porsche Cayenne

Click above for high-res image gallery of this heavily disguised Cayenne Turbo
We recently told you that the Porsche Panamera would be unveiled at the Shanghai Motor Show in April, but it turns out that it has already debuted in Russia. This Porsche-powered four-door just popped up with a retro body that seems to have caught the whole automotive world by surprise. We thought that the last batch of pics were the real deal, but apparently no. Actually we are just messing with you. What you see above is another motoring mashup by Cardi. It's a '60s era Volga GAZ-21 body sitting atop a Porsche Cayenne Turbo. Russian design house Cardi claims that with 450 turbocharged, V8 horsepower at its disposal, the Volga Cayenne can jet to 100km/h in just 6.7 seconds on its way to a vmax of 155 mph. And just in case any passers-by are wondering where this Q-ship is from, Cardi has also applied a raher tasteful and understated graphic. Even the wheels receive a subtle reminder of the car's place of origin. Check out the gallery to see more of this Volga Cayenne. The interior, in particular, is gorgeous.

Why not go ahead and paint Adolf Hitler on the car? Stalin killed millions of people in concentration camps, yet these folks don't even feel bothered by that.

I hope it runs well, I'd hate to be stallin' that at a red light.

How did they make it that much slower than a Cayenne? I would guess the GAZ has to weigh at least 2000 lbs less than the Porsche. Initially I thought it would be a loss of traction but the description "GAZ-21 body sitting atop a Porsche Cayenne Turbo" makes me believe it would still retain the Cayenne running gear, i.e. AWD. What gives?

Ironic how its considered "ok" to drive a Russian car with Stalin artwork plastered on the sides. Yet if you tried putting Hitler's mug on a Benz with swastika patterned wheels you'd more than likely be arrested in most western nations.
My point being that Stalin and his cronies killed more than Hitler and the Third Reich.
Regardless, it truly is the epitome of "and now for something completely different"

don't you know? killing people because you don't like their religion = bad. killing people because you don't like their politics = okay

Agreed. Slapping the image of a horrific mass murderer like Stalin on the side of your car just screams "I'm a worthless dirtbag poseur with zero taste or compassion."

Well, it's like driving around in USA with a "Vietnam veteran" licence plate. A disgrace, yet people do it. Every country has its irrationalities in thsi regard.
On top of that, it would be strange to expect someone in Russia to believe that "Stalin killed more than Hitler" B.S. This is chiefly American propagandist mythology, completely unknown to anyone outside of the USA. To the civilized world Stalin is the guy who took care of Hitler. And just for that most people would tolerate the controvercy.

Yeah... anyone else getting a little freaked out by how acceptable it is becoming for the current generation of former Soviet-bloc country youth and politicians to lionize Stalin and the USSR? It is more than just a little creepy, if you ask me.
I do like the interior, but the Volga is an acquired taste I just can't seem to master. It looks too much like the Studebaker that Fozzy drove in the Muppet Movie.

"Well, it's like driving around in USA with a "Vietnam veteran" licence plate. A disgrace, yet people do it. "
Really, just die. It's a disgrace to be forced into a war that you may (or may not have) supported, and survived?
You really, really, REALLY disgust me.
