eBay Find of the Day: Vintage Racecar Collection
Of course we're checking the couch in the editors lounge for spare change, it's only natural when an impeccable collection of vintage race cars goes on the block. We've found 63 cents so far; if we can avoid the siren song of a Milky Way when we fuel up, we're well on our way to the $855,000 price for this package deal. Chuck Fausel is retiring, and his impressive stable of vintage racers is up for sale, either individually or as a collection. The newest car is a NASCAR veteran from the 1990s, and the oldest is a 1920 Model T fitted with a Rajo overhead valve conversion. The provenance and history of the cars is fascinating and genuine, unlike some of the other schlock you see on eBay. We'd gas 'em up and go off to shred some tires, but you could also build a viewing hall around them and charge admission.

Im not too sure what I think about this. Jared seems to think that is a reasonable price and that there are some sweet cars in there. I am not sure, but it seems to me that the underwriters price seems to be fair, if you incorporate the ford underjames.

Problem with these cars is that you can't drive them on public roads.

meh, i wouldn't even want to drive it on the street, just tow it to a track and have fun.
OR you could throw on some dealer plates or tech plates and drive it around on the street too.

Those old race cars are hard as hell to drive too! just cruising down a nice open back road would be ecstacy. I watched a show once where they where driving an old race car that ran on the beaches of daytona and jacksonville, fl (hense why it caught my attn.) and every probably 15 seconds the driver has to pump a piston on the side to feed fuel to the car, the car had straight gears w/ no synchro's, the brakes where internal and external drums with a big handle outside the car... It's crazy how dangerous but also how amazing old race cars like that are. Makes you go wow in how far we got in ~100yrs.

I also want to know where the extra slick is for the #37 car... 3 hoosier slicks and a treaded tire... Same with the black #25

Yahweh. I agree with Jaroo. The automocar seems to be in tact but it only goes 3 parsecs to the gallon. Better sqeeker clean than a dirty moe.

dont listen to Horseraddish, all the car knowledge died with Alan James Matthew Smithford II, these are some high quality beasts that could clearly do 5 parsecs to the gallon. the underjames shouldnt be a problem at all boi, just dont get swept away in that new falojoe tax ;)
