A McLaren-tuned Dodge Viper? That's some synergy, and it's also what everyone was asking when American Specialty Cars (ASC) unveiled their reworked asp at the Detroit Auto Show back in 2006. But there was a logic to it all: At the time, Chrysler was still in bed with Daimler, which owns Mercedes-Benz, which was tied in with McLaren and produced the SLR supercar. The Diamondback Viper Concept boasted a McLaren-tuned V10, but while the F1 team was running Mercedes mils around the grand prix circuit, this super-snake was created by an entirely different McLaren.
The Diamondback concept featured a host of carbon fiber body panels and an "OmniCarbon" hood to show off the car's 615-horsepower V10 tuned by McLaren Performance Technologies. The American outfit based near Indianapolis was started by the same Bruce McLaren behind the F1 team, but with a focus on preparing his Can-Am racers for competition in North America. Whatever the association with the legendary Kiwi, the Diamondback was a real show-stopper. Unfortunately, only the one example was made, but that show car is now available for a lucky buyer to take home. It cost ASC about $750,000 to build the Viper back in 2006, but only 55 miles later, it's up for grabs for $295k. Aesthetically, it's a bit much for me, but then....it's a Viper. It can get away with being ostentatious because...well...it's a Viper. And that's a steal of a price, but I don't know where $750,000 could've gone into it.

That engine with the McLaren badge alone is worth about $200,000, although the rest of the car probably isn't worth $95,000.

Umm yeah Al Gore must love a 615-hp V10. I'm saying the other parts in this car probably don't quite match the price tag, like the minivan stereo someone mentioned, and I don't like the use of carbon fibre decorations on this car.
Actually, I still don't get your point. WTF is wrong with expecting something special from a $295,000 auto?

unlike the two tools above me... I think this is the baddest Viper ever made. It's even better than those 1400rwhp twin turbo monsters! This thing looks amazing and probably dirves and sounds like nothing else out there.
I just with I could afford one :(

Yeah well, you can't afford it eh? Maybe you should go get a job, or an education, or actually try to understand what other people say.
I like the Viper and the insanity it represents which is so lacking in today's society, but all that carbon fibre and stuff looks to me to be the sign of someone who's compensating.

I am not surprised, american cars are known for their horrible interior designs so no expection on this case either. But yeh as someone mentioned that engine with MacLaren badge is worth over $200K.
