Video: KTM demonstrates how to ride its bikes

Click above to watch the video
You've got to respect the capabilities of the orange and black machines currently rolling out of KTM's Austrian headquarters, but after watching some promotional footage of its latest bikes in action, we can only surmise that the European cycle manufacturer isn't quite familiar with the lawyer-bred nature of things here in the United States. After the break, you'll find a set of seriously awesome videos highlighting the kind of hooligan antics made possible by Supermoto-style machinery like the KTM 690SM and 950SM. You'll also witness the sheer performance and acceleration available to riders of any literbike, including KTM's new RC8.
These guys are hardcore, reminding us that it's not always the destination, but rather how you get there. This footage really speaks for itself, so we can only add a reminder to ride safe out there and to keep the really dangerous antics relegated to a proper track.

KTM is giving us a friendly reminder driving home what motorcyclists already know:
2 wheels > 4 wheels. I would dearly love to swap my Suzook DRZ 400SM for the KTM 690!!! Keep the bike content coming.

2>4? In what aspect?
Oh, u know what, whatever...

Power to weight ratio, and price. You have to compare it performance-wise to at least a Gallardo. I know a guy who has beaten Vipers on his $10,000 Suzuki Bandit 1200.
But from day to day, I will take my four wheels. Give me my Exige 240 please!

Oh, I forgot to add that cars lean the wrong way in corners :)

Words cannot describe the pure overwhelming extreme stunning awesomeness of these videos and the behaviour that they demonstrate.
P.S. They should make X-Bows able to do wheelies. ;)

I love that they are advertising every possible illegal thing you can do with their motorcycle. Hooligan bikes live on!

Yeah, the marketers who work for motorcycle firms sure have hard jobs, don't they?
I could have done withou the annoying techno soundtrack though.

i stopped at the light just after ocean beach on the great highway, the light turned and less than a few seconds later i looked down and the bike was doing 78 in third accelerating up the hill toward ft funston.I dont ride the beast that often but it sure is fun .

I was trying to think of the rider's name...anyone know?
OH, now I remember: Organ Donor.
I ride a motorcycle, and folks need to know that this is f'ing stupid to do this mess on public streets.

Sure it makes fun..until you crash.

I (obviously from my comment name) am somewhat of a bike nut (understatement here). I don't get nuts on the street anymore - lucky to have lived through my thirties the way I used to ride, but only out of the city.
The absolute craziest riders I have ever seen was in Austria in the Alps. These insane people were racing each other, passing on blind curves and every other crazy thing you can think of. What amazed me is that I didn't see any of them in accidents. The only accident I did see was between two Ferrari's! I was having a little fun, of course, but the E-class I was driving was not exactly my chariot of choice for having fun in the twisties.

Huh...thats a stupid comment.
pmiddle5 10:21PM (12/29/2008)
if you think riding like that on the street isnt stupid then maybe you should be thinking more.
I'm not saying they are not awesome videos just sort of funny encouraging everyone to go ride extremely dangerous. I would want to keep my customer base alive!

If only they would have used the bikes exhaust and engine as the only soundtrack for the video...
