Rendered Speculation: LeMans-ready Dodge Challenger

Click above for a high-res gallery of the Vizualtech-designed Dodge Challenger touring cars
Swedish design firm Vizualtech wanted to showcase its 3D composition capabilities, so it decided to take the muscular lines of the 2009 Dodge Challenger and transform it into a touring car ready to tackle Le Mans. Each rendering features all the aerodynamic accoutrements required for a serious campaign abroad, including GT-style wings, massive splitters, blistered fenders and carbon fiber diffusers. We're digging the Gulf liveried Challenger above (complete with Swedish flag), but you can find your own favorite in the gallery below.

I know eh... The fifth pic (silver one, front view) looks jaw-dropping-ly good. How a REAL American Muscle Car should look..hint..hint...ford!

Right on the nose. Not that thats a bad thing though. These renderings are damn sexy.

Also the rear bodywork reminds me of the 80's Zakspeed Mustangs. (1981-82?)
Current GT1 & GT2 rules would NOT allow you to run this aero... nice illustrations though.

First thing I thought of when I saw that.

Okay, let's not get carried away here, LeMans is still a high-speed track, and aero dynamics has a huge impact. Barns do not fare very well at this track. BMW M3 will find this out in June.
This car and M3 will do better on tighter tracks.

The E92 M3 GTR hasn't even declared for 24h Le Mans. The E46 M3 GTR did okay at 24h Nurburgring... I believe that one is also considered a "high speed" course. ;)

Nice. I love the new Challenger and I love Le Mans. Too bad it will probably never happen.

Ok, so this two-ton behemoth wasn't wide or heavy enough to begin with, that they have to add another foot to the track width, and a bunch more bodywork to increase frontal area and weight?
Interesting looking, but seems to be too much from a technical aspect.

GT1 cars share very little with the road car. This wouldn't weigh two tons.
jcar302 7:13PM (12/17/2008)
This would make a great car for forza or gran turismo

Why add flames to the Gulf livery? Seriously?

To make it go faster, duh. It's common knowledge that flames add 15 horsepower.

"It's common knowledge that flames add 15 horsepower."
hes right, in fact, if the flames are blue (meaning they fire is hotter) the boost can be as high as 30 horsepower
