Spy Shots: Are reports of the BMW CS' demise exaggerated?
The unadulterated beauty that is the BMW CS Concept cannot decide whether it wants to be built. A little more than a year ago the CS Concept was going to be the basis for a new flagship sedan. A month ago, BMW turned heel and walked away from a production version, running instead into the arms of smaller vehicles and EfficientDynamics. Now, Evo claims it has caught BMW testing a CS mule near BMW's headquarters. What is actually pictured, however, is a 7 Series with a CS-style nose and headlights. While a production CS would be based on the 7 Series, this is a long way from BMW actually building the CS. We aren't saying they won't, since every car has to start somewhere... but we are saying be skeptical.Gallery: BMW Concept CS

Gimme a break. Unless a bulbous shape with more creases than a basket of ironed dress pants is your thing.

I dunno... guess to me this looks like they crossed a current 7 series with the Citroen GT. Just a little bit.
To me that's win.

dumbest comment ever read on Autoblog. The beauty of the CS is in the details, look at the proportions for christs sake!

Wrong. This car is proof that BMW can indeed make beautiful cars. Save the criticism for the Z. I hate that thing.

This looks to me like it could be a 5 series refresh

I take that back - definitely 7 series

A refresh for the 7 already? Ah, no. And the all new 5-Series is debuting sometime next year.
So with that I have no idea what you are talking about unless you are refering to the fact that the pictures look alot like a 7-Series...then I could play along :)

not so much a refresh for the 7 series... but if you take the 'spy' shot and compare it side by side with the 2009 7 series, they are nearly identical.

I agree. It looks much more like a 7 series than something completely new. The CS concept had a more aggressive front end and a more coupe-like profile (like the Merc CSL). And, if anyone is reading, the magazine you got these pics from is called evo - with a small caps e.

m7? why not?

An M7 is unlikely. They just stopped making the Alpina B7 which was basically an M7. It may be a 7 sporting some of BMW's new in-house performance mods. I'm really not sure though, it's hard to tell. As for it being a CS in the flesh, I think that may be the best bet.
