VIDEO: 2010 Mustang GT burnin' rubber

The 2010 Ford Mustang has been knocked for being a tad down on horsepower compared to its retro-new muscle car rivals. Nevertheless, if you have some tires at home that you hate, you can still shred them to smithereens in the 315-hp GT. Check out what real smoking is all about after the jump.

Really...what was the purpose of all that.

To do a burnout.

@Monkaroo
Upset the Prius can't do it like that?

I wasn't so sure about the new stang until I saw this. That muscular profile and forward stance really looks awesome doing burnouts. I officially would rather pay the premium for the new one versus the current gen.

If you have to ask, you'll never know.

The purpose is simply to have fun, or have you no concept of that?

with gas now a 1.75 for premium and going down (as oil hit $35 a barrel) faster than a roller coaster.
With than in mind, ok, electrics are the future, but oil's going to be around for at least another 50 years, it's telling all the hybrids owners not to be too smug...

At first I admit, I wan't a fan of the 2010 Stang, but after some hate and ridicule, I think it's awesome. I think the new Pony Cars were iterated perfectly in their own unique way.
The burnout was sweet!

I agree, it looks good and nice burn out. Thank God we are talking about cars again. I could stand a whole day of posts of GTR vs ZR1 fanboys rather than all the goverment loan stuff.

If I was going to get a 2010 Mustang, that would be it right there.
Red GT, with those wheels.

Never was really impressed with burnouts as back in highschool anyone and everyone could do them in the parking lot with anything from Mustangs to minivans. :P

At least they showed the one thing a solid rear axle is good at.

Big Whoop.
My 300hp 2005 GT can do that too...

I like the car but that powder blue color is horrible. It's not as bad as the gold color they have though. Yuck!
I think the Mustang, Camaro and Challenger look best in black, silver or red. In fact I think that goes for most performance cars. Too bad red is the "ticket me" color.

By powder blue, do you mean Grabber Blue?
It's a heritage color from the 1970 Boss 302 Mustang, and it's a wonderful color to see in person. Absolutely breathtaking close up.
I'm waiting for the new motors, though. My 2007 GT will have to do for a couple more years, until the motors drop, and I can buy my Grabber Blue Boss 302.

You should see the the bright orange Mustang GT running around where I live.

I understand it's a heritage color and I have seen it in person before on the new Mustang. I work in the Detroit area and have seen the new the Mustang in almost every color and I just don't like the blue or the gold. I'm not dogging it but it's just not my first, second or even fifth choice.
