Ferrari has the One To One Personalisation Programme, so it makes since that its sister brand, Maserati, would get one too. The Italian automaker unveiled its own customization program called the MC Sport Line today at the Bologna Motor Show, and this one is meant to amp up the sporting nature of its cars. Since the GranTurismo S is the model in Maserati's line-up, it was chosen to stand on display at the show wearing the functional bits and pieces from the MC Sport Line. GranTuriso S owners will be able to start ordering parts in early 2009 from the new line, which includes front and rear carbon fiber spoilers, side skirts, carbon fiber mirror housings, CF door handles and gloss black 20-inch wheels. Interior options include door sills monogramed with "MC Sport Line" that are made out of – you guessed it – carbon fiber, which is also the material of choice for the new steering wheel rim and panels that cover the doors, dashboard and central tunnel.

Aside from additional aerodynamic aid provided by the new spoilers and the fact that all these parts weigh less than their non-CF parts they're replacing, the only other functional hardware available from the factory is a new suspension setup that stiffens the springs and lowers the GranTurismo S by 10mm.

The Maserati GranTurismo S outfitted with the entire MC Sport Line catalogue seems like a no-brainer for someone with enough coin to be shopping in this segment, though Maserati has not yet revealed how much these new parts will balloon the car's substantial price tag.

MASERATI AT THE BOLOGNA MOTOR SHOW UNDER THE FLAG OF ITS SPORTY DNA

The MC Sport Line customisation programme focuses on Maserati's racing heritage fresh from its latest international triumph in the FIA GT championship with the Bertolini-Bartels duo in Argentina, the land of Juan Manuel Fangio.

Maserati has developed a special series of new options named "MC Sport Line", which make their worldwide debut at the Bologna Motor Show, with new content that adds to Maserati's already extensive range of personalisation options. The "MC Sport Line" is designed to enhance the sporty DNA of Maseratis for those customers who like to express their passion for racing through dynamic styling and a choice of technical solutions that increase driving fun without compromise.

The name "MC Sport Line" sums up the on-track experience gained by the Maserati Corse department, whose contribution to the design of the functional components has been invaluable. The world of motor racing also inspired Maserati's designers when it came to styling, hence the extensive use of carbon fibre, exceptionally popular among racing enthusiasts thanks to its direct links to racing.

The GranTurismo S, the ultimate expression of Maserati's performance, was the model chosen to first present the "MC Sport Line" catalogue to the public, which will be extended to the GranTurismo range and then will ultimately encompass the entire Maserati line-up during the course of 2009.

From early 2009, GranTurismo S customers will not only be able to enhance the sporty look of their vehicle's exterior and interior - but different technical solutions will also be available.

Aerodynamics can be modified thanks to the addition of front and rear carbon-fibre spoilers, which benefit from track tests conducted on the GranTurismo MC Concept; the new aerodynamics not only optimise the vertical load but give the car a very distinctive appearance, as do the side skirts with the central panel finished in matt black, adding a dynamic edge to the side view.

The sporty look of the exterior can be completed with carbon fibre mirror housings and door handles. The same dark shade is reflected in the glossy black 20" wheel rims that perfectly match the dark line of the exterior.

The carbon fibre door sill bearing the words "MC Sport Line", tells you that you are entering a different environment, in which carbon fibre characterises the door panels, dashboard and central tunnel.

The steering wheel rim is also made from carbon fibre, as are the paddle shifts for the electro-actuated transmission and the body of the instrument panel, dashboard and door panels, featuring carbon moulding. Looking at the central tunnel, carbon fibre dominates the entire section, acting as a backdrop to enhance the brilliance of the chrome.

The "MC" pedal block complete with kickplate to the left is machined from solid aluminium.

Under the "skin", the suspension has been stiffened thanks to new, stiffer springs, shock absorbers and anti-roll bars; the new suspension set-up is synchronised with a specific Maserati Stability Programme software, allowing the driver more freedom. The car is now 10 mm lower than the GranTurismo S, resulting in on-road performance that is absolutely uncompromising in terms of handling and driving enjoyment.

All the features listed are available either as part of the customisation package, following the indications of Maserati designers; or individually, to cater for the personal tastes of each customer.

      The car is sweet. However, I can't take my eyes off the fender vents which visually appear to be on a upward angle different from the other body lines. To me, they look crooked.

      I'm not sure about these new additions. I'm no Maserati fan, but I've always liked the GranTurismo for its classy yet subtly aggressive looks. Adding these carbon fiber bits, while potentially functional, seem to disturb the clean lines it had originally. Just my two bits.

      Wow, that is menacing! I don't usually go for the Maserati styling (I prefer the brashness of a Ferrari), but that looks pretty awesome!
      I don't like the centre stack in the interior though. It looks like they pulled the radio/climate control buttons out of an old Accord. The little green display seems out of place too. Not really a big deal, but it does stand out to me as being subpar for an otherwise beautiful car.

        Ahah you beat me to it. I was about to post the same thing. The front looks a bit like the Karma also, except the grill is bigger.

        Of course you are talking about the car, you can't see her rear from that angle, unless you can see the reflection in the car on the other side of the room.

      I've driven a new Gran Tourismo and these cars are absolutely awesome. They've got the power of an exotic and the comfort of a semi-daily driver. Very nice car to drive.

        I'm with you on that. I'm usually very happy to get back into my C4S after most test drives but after pressing that sport button and revving that engine I wanted to drive it home and park it in my garage. Looks even better in person and one of the nicest designs to come out of Pininfarina in a long time. Every car fan needs to go check one out just to hear it. MSRP of $141K is a bit much for my wallet (this is the 2009 GT-S which is the one to get IMO) especially considering Maseratis are not known for holding their value very well. However I am def going to keep an eye out for a used one or maybe a deeply discounted one. They were offering $20K off the left over new 2008s (non S) GT.
