Annnnnnd, we're back. It's a four-man crew this week; Neffie graces us with his presence on this second installment of our relaunched Podcast. I'm listening to it right now, and completely agree about how far the domestics have come quality wise. Anyone who says American cars are crap (mainly the ones made from 06 and up) either have never been in one since the 90's, or are just repeating what everyone else is saying.

The IS300 is... like... bad... I had one as a rental back in 2003... Those cars have no shocks. I swear it was like a frickin shopping cart. Maybe it was the the car I had, and not the whole IS300, but needless to say, I have never set foot in a Lexus since then. Like ever.

I'm listening to the podcast and I must say I disagree with your comments regarding the American cars sold overseas. "GM and Ford can't sell into Japan because it's a closed market". I live New Zealand where we have no barriers on people importing cars from where ever in the world they want, and we don't import US cars. Because no-one wants to buy them. The problem with the US auto industry is you don't have an export market. This is because you build cars that the rest of the world don't want. If you look at the best selling cars in the world Toyota Corolla, VW Golf etc. There are no competing product made in the US. America needs to stop buying cars "by the pound". You say it costs as much to make a big car as a small car. Then make smaller cars.

Ben: Ford and GM both make vehicles only for overseas markets like the Opel Insignia and the Ford Focus. Those products are in high demand in places like Europe and Russia, but they cannot be sold in Japan. We know that there isn't a big market for Silverados and Town Cars in Japan, but the Focus or Fiesta would likely sell OK... but they're not welcomed into the market.
