Ford is wasting no time in allowing its customers to modify the new 2010 Mustang. In fact, they are so anxious to get started that visitors to the LA Auto Show will be able to digitally customize their own version of the pony car right on the show floor. A total of 43 accessories will be available, from wheels to spoiler to hood scoops. Wheels will be available in a variety of finishes, and body parts will come in black, silver, or body color. A carbon fiber package will even be available. Taking it a step further, Ford will have the crew from Galpin Auto Sports on hand to pick a design every hour and actually install the parts on a V6 convertible and a GT coupe to provide a real life look at the car. More details are in the press release after the jump, and if for some reason you haven't already seen them, you can check out photos of the 2010 Mustang in the galleries below. Stay tuned for our live coverage of the LA Auto Show beginning later this morning.

PRESS RELEASE:
LOS ANGELES, Nov. 18, 2008 – For customers dreaming up ways to accessorize the new 2010 Mustang, Ford just made it easier. At the Los Angeles International Auto Show, visitors can electronically customize a 2010 Mustang – and see it built right before their eyes in a Mustang Garage on the show floor.
"Nobody has done this before with a new vehicle as popular as Mustang," said Mark Conforzi, chief designer, Vehicle Personalization.
The Mustang Garage area features three computers for show visitors to use to create their ideal Mustang with accessories from Ford Vehicle Personalization. Available accessories include wheels, stripes, spoilers, hood scoops and side scoops – all in a variety of colors and finishes.
A design will be selected every hour, and a car will be built in front of the crowd to show exactly what the customer designed. Members from Galpin Auto Sports, best known for Pimp My Ride, will install the customers' choice accessories on one V-6 convertible and one Mustang GT coupe. Once the car is complete, the newly customized Mustang and the proud designer will have their picture taken together.
"It's the first opportunity where we can show the world we have this great new Mustang coming out, and we are offering a lot of new accessories with it," said Conforzi.
Conforzi sees a definite trend in what customers want.
"Anything that looks technical is in fashion. More machine-like, low-gloss technical-looking surfaces are a strong trend, and in the right application, they look very cool," he said.
With that in mind, several unique finishes are offered on five wheels – black chrome, gunmetal gray powder coat, satin gold, chrome and high-gloss metallic white. Other accessories, like hood and side scoops, spoilers and the like will be available in silver, black or body color – plus a carbon fiber package.
Each of the 43 accessories to be offered for the 2010 Mustang will be on display in the Mustang Garage exhibit, giving visitors a clear idea of all the accessories they can leverage to make the new Mustang their very own.

The 1970 Mach 1 and BOSS 302/429 were always my favorites. It's nice to see they are picking up on those styling cues. Just needs some Sport Slats. At the tone, all Mustang haters may start your whining.

Is it just me, or does this car look smaller?
And the rear end is, uhm, forward looking, eh?
Overall, not bad....their definitely still in the pony car game with this entry.

It's just the car of the moment, like the Challenger not too long ago, it's just that the Stang has been here forever and many are getting somewhat bored of it. At least this isn't like Engadget when Apple releases something.

Foose, don't be so sore about it. It's big news. It's the latest pony car from Ford. That's news in of itself.
Car lovers rejoice. America's still got something to be proud about. The old 'stang.

Nice one Foose. You don't like what Autoblog feels like covering so you accuse them of payolla. What should we think about the reason why you have negative opinions?
Let me offer you the same advise that has been provided here many times. It's a Blog. Read what you are interested in and ignore the rest, but don't demand that we read only what you are interested in.

I really hate it when people feel the whole world needs to cater to them and them alone. I've said this a million times, "If you're not interested in Mustangs then don't look at the damn Mustang articles." Why is that so difficult? People just gotta pop in and bitch about it.

i like mine better :P

I want a mustang lx. I want them to put the v8 in a v6 body style with cloth seats and no other options.

Let me know when I can customize it with a 400hp 5.0L, six speed manual, and possibly an independant rear. Until then I could care less about different wheels, spoilers, or hood scoops. (speaking of which, hood scoops on a tall cowl hood like this? That must look weird.)
