Poll: In what spec racing series would you want to race?

So you have a dilemma. You've got an itch for racing sports cars and cash to burn. Taking on Porsches and Ferraris in the GT2 category sounds fun, but the competition is pretty stiff and a spec series with a level playing field sounds more appealing. What are your options? If Porsches are your thing you might want to try the Porsche Supercup, featuring the 911 GT3 Cup, that runs in support of Formula 1. Rather go Italian? You can race an F430 in the Ferrari Challenge in North American, European, and Italian series, or try your hand in the brand new Lamborghini Super Trofeo series racing the Gallardo. American muscle more your style? You can race the FR500S Mustang in the Ford Racing Mustang Challenge at eight of America's best race tracks. We think each of them sounds like a ton of fun, but tell us which one you would pick in the poll below.

Maybe shoulda put in Spec Miata and the Jetta TDI Cup (for the VDubbers in the crowd).

I'd love to give the TDI Cup a go.
I was going to say this is more of a "super awesome" car spec racing series poll... but then there's the Mustang. :(

Lots of spec series are MISSING...
... Cooper Tires Atlantic, Star Mazda, Formula BMW, Indy Lights & the IRL.
Add this new "Green Prix" (new owner of Atlantics too) series. Will use old Champ Car Panoz spec car & The old CART Reynard spec car. Power comes from "spec" Cosworth motors running bio fuel.

I concur with both sentiments above. I've no direct experience with the TDI other than being a passenger, but I'd like to see how that would be on a race course.

Also Spec RX-7, Formula Ford, but my vote is certainly for spec Miata it is the best spec racing series in America

If I'm paying then I'll head to the SCCA Playboy MX-5 Cup (Miata) or the VW TDI spec series...
... but if I'm dreaming which car I want to toss around the track for a season (on some one elses $$$) I would be going for the purpose built race car... one of the OW rides!!! :) :) :)
Sign me up for the old Reynard or Panoz Champ Car if I stay in the USA.
If I can travel... I take the newest spec race car... the A1GP Ferrari (based on the '06 F1 car...)

This was a bit of a tough choice.
On the "Dream" side, the Ferrari - no contest.
But I almost took the 'stang because it's cheaper - and I know I gonna bend it. I would much prefer a Miata over a Mustang, though. You know, something that actually turns and stops.

Who doesn't want to race a Ferrari once in a lifetime?

I think they said SPEC series, not wreck series.

Assuming we aren't burying the Big-3 instead of welcoming the new Camaro I'd like to race in the revival of the old Trans Am series. Challengers, Mustangs, and Camaros. I'd take a Camaro.
No I didn't vote for the Mustang. I voted Porsche.
Of course if I had to support this operation financially I'd be in the spec Miata series.

They have a "revival" of Trans Am... its called VINTAGE RACING!!! (w/ original Camaros Challengers & Mustangs)

Id go for the TDI Cup, but since its not on here I went with 911 GT3 cup. It runs in conjunction with F1, so who wouldn't want the oppertunity to ask lewis hamilton what you did wrong? and it offers the quickest way to get into other motorsports on the grandest scale

Realistically? Spec Miata.
Logically? Porsche.
Because it's a hot car? Lamborghini

Very well put.
I wanted to say "Where's the Spec Miata option?" but I had a feeling a dozen already said it before me, and I was right.

Ferrari. Two simple reasons: if I could actual race in a Ferrari spec series, that'd mean I was financially capable of doing so, which would be nice; I think being surrounded by that much Ferrari engine/exhaust noise would pretty much be the greatest thing in the world.

That Ferrari exhaust note.....
I cant pass that up.
