VIDEO: Ken Block Gymkhana practice, or one hoon to rule them all

Click above to watch Ken Block, master hoon
There are a remarkable number of crap car videos floating around the intertubes, so it takes a special breed of driving deity to make something that catches our attention. Card-carrying member of the automotive master race, Ken Block, did just that by setting up an utterly insane Gymkhana course around El Toro and then proceeds to flog the life out of his Crawford-prepped Subaru Impreza STI through countless turns, drifts and 360s to create over four minutes of pure motoring bliss. The video speaks for itself, so hit the jump to check it out. And if you want to get inside the mind of the man, head over to 0-60 to read a brief interview of Block and his madcap run.

a complete amateur question, but I assume the car is no longer 4 wheel drive.
Nai 11:49PM (11/12/2008)
Actually its still 4WD if you look at the first high speed drift you notice all 4 wheels are smoking heavily. Its called a 4 wheel drift. Most high performance 4wds send the majority of the power to the rear since its more useful back there, so the tail will still go out and allow you to do donuts.

I've met Ken at a Rally America event in Salem, Missouri. A nice guy and an incredible driving talent. This video isn't of someone hooning, it's ballet with a car!

That was definitely worth 4.5 minutes of my life. The 3:00 minute mark was subtle but mucho impressive. Good job KB.

I think he smacked that barrier on the 3:53 mark and it was edited. Let me know what you think?

It definitely didn't look like there was enough room left to spin the car around...
Barring this glitch, I stand and applaud Mr. Ken Block.

it does look as thought he's going to but then on the cut he does get dam close to it, dont be fooled by angel were looking at before the cut.
if u pause the video and jump between the still at say 3:50 and 3:56 the barrier doesn't looked to have moved, you would have thought that if he had of hit it, they would be a little bit out on the repossessing
Stan 5:07PM (11/12/2008)
look closer he actually does hit the barrier and snaps something off.
eb110americana 9:24PM (11/12/2008)
At the 2:20 mark he's definitely scraping off the rear bumper against the skid-pad's outer barrier.
DC 4:03PM (11/12/2008)
Just simply, oh my God.

WOW! This guy should be one of the hosts of Top Gear America. Imagine him flogging a Bugati Veyron like that. I'd never get tired of watching stuff like this.

There are a few things I'd really like to see after that video:
1.Oil temperature in the rear differential
2.Tread left on the tires (if any)
3.The EGT
Crawford builds one hell of a car, that's for damn sure.
