SEMA 2008: SMART goes John Deere green

Click above for high-res gallery of the Black Deere smart from SEMA
Tom Mutchler at Consumer Reports says his first drive in a SMART reminded him of his John Deere x300 lawn tractor. Slow and noisy, but they both fit in his garage. Apparently, Black Deere LLC had the same impression of the little car and showed up at SEMA with one in John Deere's green and yellow livery. Other than being painted to match farm machinery, the SMART ForTwo Passion Cabriolet sports four air horns and an air-compressor powered truck horn. You might not see this thing coming at you, but by God you'll hear it. Unfortunately, we can't find out much about the car's customizer, Black Deere. SEMA's information lists an inactive URL and Google turns up only the story from SEMA.

I could go for one of those.
Minus the tractor on the antenna.

I believe that my John Deere lawn tractor is not only larger, has more cuoholders, but more powerful too!

Hmm.... Wonder how much effort it would take to actually mount a lawn deck under it?? Might be a slow car, but would make a FAST lawnmower!

Finally a good use for these things. Towing a utility trailer around the yard.

Google them - it's some mom & pop's place in Dedham, Ma. All that comes up is a Select Board meeting minutes where they're applying for a Class II license....whatever that is.....

Man, I think the SMARTs are adorable, but I cannot get past the color scheme. I gotta say it should just stay on John Deere tractors and related equips, yeah?

I am surprised that this branding (maybe it has) has not been adopted by Ford, Chevy, or Dodge trucks. Similar to a Harley Package on the F150. I like the Green and Yellow on the little Smart. I agree it would be a cool Monster Garage creation to turn it into a functional lawn mower.
Also ditch the tractor on the antenna.
Is this going to be the new hipster doofus fad - driving a car for the 'irony'.

4 air horns and an air-compressor powered truck horn???? Wouldn't that be 5 air horns?

I talked to the guy that made it. It runs off of vegi oil that he gets from mcdonalds. That's what he said. Oh, and it gets about 400 MPG.
