VIDEO: Audi debuts Meet the Beckers, Episode 3

Click above to view video after the jump
We have no proof that these "Meet the Beckers" viral videos have anything to do with the fact that Audi was one of two brands to post a sales gain in a dismal October, but we'd like to believe it. Episode 1 showed us that Audi is more than comfortable exploiting the stereotypes of BMW, Lexus, and Mercedes owners, and Episode 2 brought us more of the same. In Episode 3 there are precisely zero cars shown during the three-and-a-half minute video, and it may be the funniest video yet.
The Beckers are prepping for their annual family football game, and the eccentric family is getting more bizarre by the minute. The BMW owner is in love with Conan the Barbarian, the Lexus owner was a male cheer leader in school, and the Benz-driving father cracks an egg into his Manhattan before tossing the pig skin. If you've missed out on the Beckers so far, here is Episode 1 and Episode 2. Audi's newest Beckers classic is available after the jump, and it's an absolute must see. Thanks for the tip, Khanh!

You can say that again.

Huh, just how is this supposed to make me want to buy an Audi?...Just give me a well designed and well engineered car, with good performance that doesn't break the bank and doesn't send half its life in the shop, and I'll buy it.

I think at this point it's just meant to be entertaining.

"Instead of showing me a standard car commercial and telling me that Audi Model XYZ has more cup holders than its competitors it has given me a character to associate with each brand. The first time I watched the video I was surprised at how Audi allotted roughly the same amount of time to showing me their car as they did to showing me the cars of their competitors. It seems somewhat counterintuitive – free publicity for competing brands is generally something an advertiser would want to avoid rather than encourage. But when you put a little more thought into it you begin realize they didn’t want you to necessarily remember what the car looked like but they wanted you to remember what character drives what car. For many, image is a significant factor in determining what vehicle to purchase, especially in the luxury car market. Do you want your car to say that you are stogy and outdated or obnoxious and reckless? Of course not, you want to be seen as young, successful and responsible, meaning you want to be like Jason driving the Audi. It is also important to look at the target market for this ad campaign. Jason is part of the Net Generation, by releasing Internet video advertisements, Audi is capturing a large portion of its intended audience for an extended period of time, a rare feat in the world of the impatient, click through, fast forward Net Gener." The first one was still the best.

+1
the second one I felt everyone came off as a douche, including Audi guy.
The problem with the third one is I now no longer care what cars they drive.
Still funny though.

It may be mildly entertaining, but... do you really think that it is selling cars???
They did show an Audi poster on the wall, I don't know if that counts for showing a car.

It's the 3rd viral. They've already established the characters and their respective vehicles. Its about brand identification. Not showing you cars.

Maybe it is the omnipresence of cars in real life that makes them invisable but there was at least on car parked in the driveway during the entire football game. Not driven but it was there.

Enjoyed the first one, but the last two have been painful to watch. Oh well, looks like the writer had a couple good jabs but not enough to keep the good fight going. This last episode is just moronic.

These ads are just to bring the brand name back up into discussion and poke a little fun at the competition. They're actually pretty funny too. Who wants to have an ad list every available feature? Also do you think audi put an r8 commercial in the superbowl last year because they wanted more r8 sales? No, it generated hype.

And why did they want hype to be generated???

Drives sales. Do you really think car makers are in the best situation right now with the economy? This isn't an ad aimed for the main stream public, they aren't trying to push 0% interest, it's just audi trying to have fun, make their brand more "fun", and make fun of the competition. If you want to find more meaning in it, ask socrates.

Meh, this time around. I have a feeling the goings on at the Infiniti, Acura, Caddy home might be more interesting.

Isn't it kind of tasteless for a German auto maker to feature babies being put into ovens? I mean, given Germany's recent, uh, historical use of ovens for people?
Just wondering

My wife keeps saying we are going to have twins, but after seeing this and not driving a Lexus makes me feel ok about that...

Thats funny, the Audi Quattro rally poster in the A4 owner's room is the background on my computer.
Yes, I do feel special, thanks for asking...

Audi's portrayal of BMW drivers cracks me up... it would be like Toyota calling Honda drivers boring.
