appears set to introduce two new direct injected engines to its lineup for the 2010 model year. A newly downsized 3.0L version of the 3.6L "high feature" V6 used across much of GM's
lineup is set to launch in the redesigned Buick LaCrosse
, Cadillac SRX
and Chevrolet Equinox
. The smaller V6 will get the direct injection system already offered in the premium versions of the 3.6L. The smaller engine will match the 250 hp output of the current non-DI 3.6L while offering a significant improvement in fuel economy
. The base engine in the Equinox
will be a new 2.3L four cylinder also with direct injection. The DI system should give the four cylinder about 210 hp and fuel economy equal or better than the current 2.4L engine used in a variety of GM cars.
