Spy Shots: Mercedes E-Class
If this is what the next E-Class is really going to look like, we think we prefer the lightly camo'ed prototype better. Still not exactly a beautiful proposition, it could just be that the car looks better in silver and black than it does in purple. If that's the final grille, it loses a crossbar from the current E-Class. And frankly, we wouldn't mind seeing it with that whopping emblem on the new C-Class front and center for some aggression. This could be a car where wheel choice -- and AMG package -- make all the difference. Not that it matters much, because it's an E-Class. It's going to sell like crazy no matter what.[Source: Global Motors]

Pretty dull but a descent design. It looks very long, and I think it will look great with the Avantgarde package (or Sport, as it's called in the USA), with bigger rims and slightly lowered.

Mercedes has been screwing up their designs big time over the last 8-10 years. You used to be able to look on the other side of a four lane highway and spot at a distance a Mercedes. You could even tell if it were an S, E or C class. Now they look like cheap plastic laden ordinary vehicles, that Mercedes still expect people to pay 60,000 or more for. Ridiculous!!! If GM and Chrysler merges together, I'll be forced (not a bad forcing) to purchased BMW from now on.

Really? If anything MB has some of the best designs right now - CLS, SLK, SL...even the new C-Class is hot. Granted...the design language is very similar throughout the lineup but that can be said for just abaout any automaker.

the new S-class took time to grow on me, but i think it looks great. same with the C. but this E is looking rather bland.

Can't wait for the reveal, but I certainly hope, that every type of E-Class get's a dual-exhaust system, like Audi A6, 'cause it looks kinda cheap with only one exhaust like shown.. A small detail, but still.

They probably will be doing the same thing that they did with the c class, have one luxury model and another sport one with the other grill.

Twenty years ago Mercedes and BMW oozed class. Now they are mistaken for a Honda, Toyota or umpteen other ordinary, generic designs.

Wow! If you made the grill smaller, you'd have the late and not lamented Jaguar S-Type
