Latest 2010 Ford Mustang teaser reveals more of center console

Click above for high-res gallery of the 2010 Ford Mustang teaser shots
Ford's agonizingly slow reveal of the 2010 Mustang continues today with the fourth last teaser image revealed to be the lower part of the center console and full view of the gear shift. The short shifter with the metal ball grip can be seen rising from its leather boot in a chrome-trimmed rectangular recess, while buttons for the trunk release, traction control and hazard lights are embedded close by. We also see the HVAC controls are situated at the bottom of the center stack (seat warmers, yay!) below the stereo controls. There are only three more locked slots left to reveal on Ford's mini-site for the 2010 Mustang before the car itself is revealed in full at the LA Auto Show next month. Spy shots have mostly given up the goods on both the new exterior and interior (see after the jump), but we still want to see the damn thing in person and some high-res glamour shots of its best angles. Stay tuned, they're coming.

I'm tired of these teasers. I've already lost interest in seeing the full car.
I do however want to see how it pairs up against the Camaro (spec wise).

No one is forcing you to look at them.
Also, the Mustang is to be revealed in, what, a couple weeks? I am just happy Ford isn't doing what Chevy did and show off the concept and production version for several years.

Im still intrigued by this. Its like playing hangman or something.

Ooh, I wonder what it is?!

no one cares
just skip articles with "mustang" in the title

It looks like a fairly clean design. I like it, although the Camaro wins for a truly retro interior.

Yep the Camaro wins in retro if it means 1990's Pontiacs. The Camaro HVAC/radio knobs look like a Jeep boombox.
The Mustang at least looks upscale and expensive. If they've done as good a job on the shift knob and buttons that they can show this close-up, imagine the rest of the car.

Key Phrase: "looks expensive"
The last gen Mustang's interior "looked expensive" but.... ya know......... wasn't... At least the Camaro's interior is top notch material. Numerous Magazine editors said...
And don't be so sure that the Mustang's interior is great, because the previous models weren't anything to write home about.

That does it. Seals the deal.
I was holding out until I saw the location of the heated seat buttons. Now that I know they are in front left corner of the gearshift, rather than back right, I am going to run down to my dealer and put down a deposit.

Me, and the other people who have bought the 8 million Mustangs sold since 1964. That's who.

lmao! your name's prius- no wonder....

Admittedly, I'm not a fan of the Mustang but that shift boot is awfully large for a manual transmission. Looks to be more configured for the slushbox version.

Yeah. Either this manual shifter has extremely LONG throws...or Ford just decided to use the same sized opening in the console for the manual and auto.
(I'm guessing the bean counters got there way on this one and went with the one-size-fits-all approach.)
Isuzu32 3:42PM (10/30/2008)
1. How come the Mustang doesn't have the crooked gear stick anymore?
2. Seems like they want to use the same center console for the manuals and the autos.
3. Maybe they should make the gear numbers a bit bigger...

hum, no more crooked stick because the transmission is now actually in a position it should be and not too far forward. that's why.
Read the latest jd powers ratings. Ford is at the top with their car ratings. GM and Chrysler dropped the ball once again. The camaro will no doubt be the same... crapmaro it always was.
ZedeX 3:49PM (10/30/2008)
I'm sure this mustang will be a great car and all but its really not worthy of all the teasers. It's not even new, just a refresh of the current model. As another pointed out though, they keep on selling....so I guess somebody out there cares.
